LightScribes were a neat idea. No idea how they work, but if you try hard enough you can actually rub the image off. Stay away from the coloured ones as those fade really quickly. And they smudge badly.

This is one reason why I love being a patron, you get some quirky stuff, probably because the creator can be relaxed in one of these instances, and I love anything quirky, lol.

I've still got a big stack of blank lightscribe discs kicking around, bought up half a dozen spindles when I saw them getting liquidated online cheap ages ago. A few years later when I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 (and subsequently did a clean install after that to clear up the mess the upgrade left) I never did get around to seeing if the old lightscribe software would even still work in Windows 10, I just wasn't burning discs very often anymore and scribbling something with a sharpie by hand is orders of magnitude faster then burning a label.
