A new (and weird) video for you!

I actually intended to make this video months ago, but I kept teeter-tottering on whether or not to do it.  Well, I'm on a time crunch this week, so it became a yes!

I hope you like it.  This may seem out of left field, but it was an interesting and easy project with fantastic results.

A new (and weird) video for you!

Just a thought . . . <a href="https://www.banggood.com/20W-E27-166-Red-34-Blue-LED-Grow-Light-Plant-Lamp-Bulb-Garden-Greenhouse-Plant-Seedling-Light-p-1086850.html?utm_design=13&amp;utm_source=emarsys&amp;utm_medium=Mail_promo180309_email&amp;utm_campaign=newsletter%E2%80%94emarsys&amp;utm_content=Misue&amp;sc_src=email_2889094&amp;sc_eh=740cb7c012205cc21&amp;sc_llid=351007&amp;sc_lid=112224361&amp;sc_uid=3ZMdM6kJyK&amp;cur_warehouse=CN" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.banggood.com/20W-E27-166-Red-34-Blue-LED-Grow-Light-Plant-Lamp-Bulb-Garden-Greenhouse-Plant-Seedling-Light-p-1086850.html?utm_design=13&amp;utm_source=emarsys&amp;utm_medium=Mail_promo180309_email&amp;utm_campaign=newsletter%E2%80%94emarsys&amp;utm_content=Misue&amp;sc_src=email_2889094&amp;sc_eh=740cb7c012205cc21&amp;sc_llid=351007&amp;sc_lid=112224361&amp;sc_uid=3ZMdM6kJyK&amp;cur_warehouse=CN</a>

I enjoyed watching this one. Especially the captions. :)

Interesting video, and a great low-budget / scrounger approach to building the new lighting. I cannot help but note that the tall decor object in the center of your tank looks eerily like one of those "alien creatures" seen strolling across the surface of the moon in the videos that Secureteam10 posts to YouTube!

As I replied to Bill, Saltwater's not really my thing. Freshwater's easy, saltwater... not so much.

Technology Connections

I've never had any interest in setting up a saltwater tank just because it's seems a real pain! The YouTube channel I linked in the description of this video has some really impressive freshwater tanks, and I'd like to get up to his level someday. But the leap to saltwater? Not sure it's up my alley.

Technology Connections

I know exactly what you're talking about! I can't say how it helps plants, but in my last tank I used about 10 rows of cool white 5050 SMD led tape, and 3 rows of red LED tape. This reproduced the purplish light of the "old" Aquarium lights nearly perfectly! I was tempted to do that with this tank and I might still, but the shimmer effect might become quite strange with a linear source of red light and point sources of white--it may have had red shadows dancing around. The CRI of these cheap chips isn't great, but since they have a very high light output it diminishes that problem. In person the tank looks great!

could you do a video on saltwater aquariums? - these are a lot more interesting to a lot of folks in 2018 than freshwater

No clownfish???? I only jest since you did the responsible thing and mentioned that a fish tank is not a quick thing to start.

Jason Wellband

As someone else in the deep south, I concur, y'all! ;-)

I used to keep tropical fish and used a fluorescent tube with a sort of purplish UV content to the light. It made the fish look amazing and plants grew like crazy. I wonder if there is an LED equivalent of this?

Stephen Bell

Do you share the problem of knowing too much about too many different subjects, which tends to alienate a high percent of people, given the fact that a high percent of folks are really insecure? - You and I are the types that would not do well in the deep South, which seems to be insecurity central, and from living here, boy do I know first hand! - lol
