Yes, Onew is the leader of SHINee. I still feel a bit teary seeing Jonghyun 🥲 The show is comparing the 2 groups since they debut around the same time and become a great hit in Korea shortly after debut. At that time, TVXQ and SJ are indeed more popular (TVXQ is more popular in Japan like you mentioned.)

2023-07-15 05:07:41 +0000 UTCNah don’t worry tvxq were insanely popular. In fact they were more popular than SHINee and 2pm in 2008/early 2009. Tvxq had been out for 5 years whereas the others had been a group for a few months. Even Taecyeon said in a recent interview that when he debuted he remembered on one music show/stage the crowd was predominantly full of cassies.
