A 'little' BTS update

Just a bit of a behind the scenes update on what I've been working on....


Over Thanksgiving I couldn't really work on my usual mods cause I had family over and basically didn't have the privacy to work on mods.  So...I kinda took a side track and worked on what you see above, Yoda from the Disney show The Mandalorian.  Family friendly and he's 50 years old (so technically an adult)

It started out as a gag, just to see if it was even possible.  Turns out, it was a great learning exercise.  Learned how to correct the skeleton so that all the body nodes in VaM correctly change with the morph.  The first attempt wasn't functional cause even though the morph work, the nodes were still in the default man size, so it wasn't posable/usable.  But I figured it out, which also lead me to finally figure out how to fix the eyeball deformation when using morphs (ie. facegens)

As anyone who done face morphs, the eyes always distort and is out of place.  The quick fix is the morph_fixer which will try to fix the distortion.  Most of the time, it does the job, but not this time.  It also doesn't fix location issues, so when head rotate, one of the eye will pop out of the head because the eye axis is off from the head.

The way I figure out was this:


That fixes all your distortion & position issues because it's using the default eye axis and shape.

The outfit was a pain in the ass to do.  First made it using yoda as the model, but VaM didn't like it.  Found out, it's still wrap the outfit using the base model (even with wrap to morph is checked)  So I remade it with the base male as the model.  But since the base male is 6ft the outfit had to shrink down to a few feet, causing massive distortion (it looked like it exploded)  Simming it helped to make it look normal, but since sim clothes doesn't really work with male body, there's massive clipping.

Had to put it on pause to work on the XXXmas outfit, but it's about 90% done.  I still have to create normals for his head ridges and wrinkles.  Also better skin texture.  Currently just did a fast skin by add a green tint to the base male skin.

been working on that for a while, but kinda figured out how to do a zipper.  It's a bit hacky, but given the current state of clothing function, it works and it's consistent.  It's still in it's beta stage, I still have to do a few more tweaks to get it perfect.  It's part of an outfit for a character I've been wanting to do for awhile, but couldn't because there wasn't this function available.  Finally figured out how to unzip and undress.


FINALLY....

Here's a hint of a mod I'm finishing up and releasing this week.  


After I finish that mod, I'm gonna finish up yoda and hopefully release it before christmas.  I'm trying to get as much done before then, cause it's gonna be a repeat of Thanksgiving, where I won't have the time and/or privacy to do much with family coming over.  Maybe I might go off on a tangent again....
