Mob Sorcery - Salome Poll
Added 2024-10-12 15:03:53 +0000 UTCA simple poll to get opinions on Salome after the last chapter. Feel free to comment and add your 2 cents. Be civil if you disagree with anybody and remember that this is a harem series and I don't plan to break any core rules.
The question is basically: would you want Salome to join the harem, whether in the near or distant future?

He was and is probably still seen as a young man or boy to her as far as age goes by she took a special interest because of the mana he put off and not being a complete dog so I'm sure with further development in their relationship they will be fairly equal especially with his potential

2024-10-18 03:07:51 +0000 UTCMy reservation is the power differential. This is an immortal demon and Vince has never really cemented why he's the MC until this book with the mysterious core. Up till now he's just a mook with one mid-tier spell he's good at and a lot of luck. No money, no family, and no name - he's always playing way above his pay grade. If the new plot element of the core makes him more of a believable character in why he's able to play with the big dogs (or lions, or demons) then Salome makes more sense. Right now, though, I don't see how he could be any more than a plaything for her without really stretching her motivations.

It was stated that they were vain and the less monstrous they looked. the higher up the rank they tended to float. Also, I'm pretty sure all Succubus look like humans or whatever race from the beginning.

2024-10-14 01:51:31 +0000 UTC@Bob I don't remember any of the Succubus ever needing to feed on souls in his series, though haven't read the last couple books in Spellblade. In fact, this might be the first time it's been mentioned that demons do. The only thing I can think of is that demons and devils would feed on Knowledge devils. But demons and devils are stated to not have souls.

2024-10-13 21:46:00 +0000 UTCJoys of a harem novel is she can feed of the harem as a whole more directly and it doesn't tend to leave people feeling like she is cheating since (in most cases for these books) they are all in one big relationship not a bunch of different ones, although KD does seem to veer towards a bunch of individual with little crossover

If that is something you desire to see there are probably better characters for it not someone who already expressed interest

The only case we know that actively tried not to had a pretty bad incident before he went into hair dressing, after all. And I got the feeling that succubi are worse; but that part is just my impression.

2024-10-13 12:44:22 +0000 UTCHonestly, in my mind and kd could say i am wrong, but i always thought his scuubi in this series were like the white vampires from the dresden files. They could swallow souls completely but more take bites out of it during sex that naturally grow back as souls are more resilient. The main problems would be if a succubi was really hurt and needed a deep feeding to recover or if someone got addicted and constantly came back before their soul could fully recover. Again, could be wrong and read the dresden files one to many times.

Vince might be special and someone she'll have direct sex with, but that doesn't make her relationship with him romantic. She could have other special people she'll associate with as well. Also, it feels like it would fit the world better that there are some people who, while they might be fond of Vince or even have sex with him, don't want to be together in that way.

2024-10-13 03:45:11 +0000 UTCI like Salome, and she threads a difficult nature for succubi of being a sexual creature that needs to feed in that emotion but not actually getting involved with men. She stays out of the orgies and the like using it as a passive way to feed while the younger/sluttier girls go wild. I’m not stupid enough to think she didn’t have a wild younger phase, or is some blushing virgin (LOL), but it’s clear she has the emotional capacity to be a dedicated member.

2024-10-12 20:56:03 +0000 UTCYes. But I personally like the idea of a "will she - wont she" with a succubus. The idea that sex is easy, relationships are infinitely harder, and she knows that, and has seen the outcomes. Could tie it into some kind of soul magic, make it extra dangerous for her.

2024-10-12 19:07:20 +0000 UTCWell one might be; Usually in harem, members of the harem, dont have liaisons with others. Sometimes it gets blurry with other members of the harem. Then gets touchy with those outside the harem and trying to bring them in, but some feel that gets too close to Poli/Trouple/love-triangle. Unless it is the MC, and modern takes on the genre, sometime make a mention that the others in the harem have to approve or at least discuss the inclusion.

We've already clearly seen her choose not to even try to be a booty call for Vince though she could have tried and despite her nature. And she seems to, as stated above as well, only have sex with people she's close to/actually cares about, not just anyone who's around or strikes her fancy. So I could see her settling in Vince and his harem and having them satiate her sexually while still keeping the club running for the emotional sustenance for herself (if she needs more) or for the other succubi. Maybe she promotes someone to run it for her for the most part but keeps ownership? Either way I feel like it works on alot of levels and she's also shown she doesn't mind the others in the harem. So I feel like it should work. Thank you again!

Only issue would be people getting addicted and being hurt, but they sell drugs there and everyone involved is a consenting adult. Pretty sure if they were mass murdering innocent people, they would not be there anymore.

2024-10-12 15:51:05 +0000 UTCPassive absorbing from the club seems fine, as long as she isn't an active participant. If there's going to be a big Immanuel storyline it would be a shame to leave her character hanging even if she doesn't move in or whatever but is more on the periphery

2024-10-12 15:36:23 +0000 UTCYes but there needs to be some limits. 1 she can't have sex with quintus, that would end badly. 2 it needs to be obvious that Vince is special while the club is food/nature. Plus if she has Vince's kid(s) in the future, if she can that is, it needs to be obvious that they are his. At least that's my opinion on this. She can still run the club but it's obvious Vince is more important. Plus being with him and threesomes could be a good way to tone down how often she needs to feed at the club. That or Salome switches to trying to only feed from women who show up with Vince now being the only man in her life like that, it could work as well

Demons are described as _needing_ to eat souls after they reach a certain age, and age corresponds to how human they are as I recall - that makes old, powerful demons (which may include Salome!) as a no-go for me. Couldn't care less about the nightclub and sexuality.

And we know she told as hell, she mentions being there at the French Revolution so it shouldn't be expected that she's some pure damsel. After the last chapter it also seems like she's been holding back from being more than just a booty call for Vince and actually really cares about him. So I think it would be fine for her to join the harem and still run the night club. The night club seems more like a weekly pizza party for her and her succubi. They get together and have a meal.
