Heretic Spellblade - Artemis
Added 2023-06-11 01:54:19 +0000 UTCI've been sharing my cover art early these days, so why stop now. It matters a lot less given all the AI cover art that abounds, but I'm still a big fan of the stuff my artist whips up.
With the idea to split up Spellblade into smaller, more frequent books, I needed some more cover art. Although with everything as it is, some things are up in the air, this is likely the cover for 7 or 8. Ideally 8 with the burning forest behind her, but the background works for Book 7 as well. The situation will have gone tits up enough in the books for either the Fyre or Artemis covers to work.
And yes, this is Artemis. Or Evil Fei.
I've always wanted to see Fei done in my current artist's style, and she absolutely delivered with an absolutely gorgeous and enchanting Jafeila/Artemis, who has a much more mature and bestial edge than regular Fei. Arguably her tits should be bigger, but I think they're technically very large by normal standards. There's some recency bias, but this might be my favorite cover for Spellblade.
Let me know what you think. Hopefully you enjoyed the nice surprise, even if it probably reminds many of you of how behind I am on delivering the much promised Spellblade 6.

2023-06-13 02:02:56 +0000 UTCAsymmetrical character design is extremely popular in Asia, which is what my artist leans heavily into. See: every single gacha character for the past several years. And like with some of the past covers, there's a sketch that has her more bestial/playful, but I think the artist's style leans more into this sort of enchanting/seductive look.

I love the differences between Artemis and Fei, they really shine and I feel like it was a big enough (and exciting enough) twist that she definitely deserves her own cover. As excited as I am for Spellblade 6, Lowlife Enforcer is wonderful as well and I'm happy for any and all of your writing. Thank you for a pleasant surprise today
