Neural Wraith 2 Audio is Live

Neural Wraith 2’s audio is out and you can actually download and listen to it now. If you received an error or it wouldn’t add to your library, try again now and it should work. If it doesn’t, let me know and I’ll follow up. No clue what happened, other than weird Audible stuff. A huge thanks to everyone who let me know that it finally works, too.

I think the book itself is pretty fantastic, and Stephanie has done an amazing job voicing it. Kushiel still remains my favorite character to listen to (I might have a bias), but both Lilith and Lucida ended up being a delight to listen to. While Lilith was always planned as a returning character (eventually), I think I might bring her return forward when I start outlining more books in the series.

If you enjoy it, I’d really appreciate a review. I do worry that this initial download issue will cause some serious problems with the release, so any help may give it a boost and stop it from potentially floundering.

Also, it's really weird that I wrote this book about banking stuff and included GFC references, thinking that it's pretty safe to refer to something from 15 years ago. Now the audiobook is getting published in the middle of a brand new banking crisis. Uncanny.

Anyway, Book 3 is out in like 10 days. No estimate on its audio, though.

I've tried slice of life, but it's difficult for a few reasons. I think I have like four scrapped SoL ideas. First, I get bored. I'm fairly objective driven and love worldbuilding, so my last attempt at SoL was too dark for most people (the abandoned monster girl story here on Patreon) and doesn't have the meandering nature people want. I was big into "slow life" stuff before I became an author so I know the vibe, even if I suck at reproducing it. Second, and I don't want this to be a knock, but the audience for these books is radically different to my current stuff. As popular as the books are on Amazon, I'm willing to bet the audience overlap is pretty low. They're cotton candy books and complexity is anathema to what I think makes them popular. I make things complex without even trying. My conversations also rely heavily on my worldbuilding. Third, I'm also worried about trendchasing because I release very slowly compared to the genre norm. I don't want to touch a new series until I've made serious progress toward wrapping up my current ones. Especially as I need to take a break.

This may seem out of left field. But, have thought about doing a Slice-of-Life style story? You have an uncanny ability to write scenarios where multiple people are able converse organically during small mundane situations, or times of challenge and keep the whole thing fluid and interesting. The simple situations like the bar, or when Nick is relaxing at home with Rie and have an in-depth conversation, referencing other characters' past situations/perspectives. Your dialogue just seems so broad in comparison to other stories, where conversation seem focused on the situation that those characters are in at the moment, or held in a way that can easily be seen to move the plot a certain direction. Apologies for grandizing your work, but think you'd do well writing a casual haremlit story, especially seeing the SoL is a big trend right now.

I think that one might be on me. I pressed this funny button on Amazon called "delay preorder". I'm sure it'll clear up by the 31st.

It's funny but I've also had an error with your Neural Wraith book 3 since I pre-ordered it. It's in my library, but I can't download it. It just sits there, taunting me. XD
