Next month (October) is free

Been a little while since I did this but things got very busy IRL suddenly and I haven't written or edited a word in nearly a week.

This week ended up being a bit crazy for me as a few things happened and I hurriedly made some plans for stuff I've wanted to do for years. That's what's held up the second half of the short story (which remains imminent as it's on the verge of completion).

In short, I'll be slowing down my publishing for the rest of this year. I expect October to have few to no updates, with Neural Wraith 2 chapters picking up in November (after I get some alpha reader feedback on them next month). Hence why I'll make it free.

I mentioned in recent posts that Spellblade 5 burned me out. While I've bounced back, I feel that's a deceptive feeling. I'm fairly familiar with burnout from my professional life and I'm extremely wary of screwing things up as an author (although I won't use that as a copout to do... certain things). Rather than trying to push out another book really quickly, I'm going to take a proper break.

This coincides with two (good) things in my personal life. I don't want to talk about the first, but it will chew up some of my time for the next several months.

The other is a holiday. I've always done working holidays since becoming an author, and a real one is probably a good idea. The free period of the Patreon will hopefully give me some peace of mind for a month.
