Steven Universe Future Ep 5-10

I'm late to this but yeah I see what you're saying with Garnet and I raise it to kinda all the gems. Some episodes are really hit or miss and they just kinda don't follow how the characters would actually act for the sake of the episode. This episode was made with that in mind as the gems were all just acting their roles so and they aren't that good at acting so they probably just read the script awkwardly. But like yeah

Honestly they didn’t let the diamonds off the hook for the stuff they did. Steven is basically their parole officer and keeps them in check and that’s literally all he can do cuz he’s not stronger than any of the diamonds physically like there’s just no way he’ll win a fight against any of them, and even if he did end up killing them he wouldn’t be able to heal all of the corrupted gems so this was the best possible outcome, and you’ll see how Steven still feels about the Diamonds in later eps

Also I would like to point out one thing in the Steven tag episode: this is the first time Pearl has shapeshifted since fake shattering Pink Diamond. Pearl held so much guilt over it that she couldn’t bring herself to shapeshift ever again. That’s why the gems are so excited and Steven says “good for her” when she turned into Steven

I'd like to think the gems were dumbed down on purpose for the "safety episode" specifically for the message of practicing moderation for your schedule at the end. I sincerely hope so because Garnet was completely helpless and it was a chore to watch 😂

Part of why sunstone is such an "anti-bully advocate" is because its a fusion of Garnet and Steven - Garnet is motherly and protective and Steven is compassionate and a Leader. Sunstone is the fusion of both of them which results in a Gem who is nuturing and primarily concerned with the safety and comfort of others.

Dumbing the gems down is one of the HUGE problems I have with future. These gems have been incredible warriors and grown adults for thousands of years. I personally am not a fan of Steven's development in future mostly due to the fact that he didn't develop so much as he lost the majority of issues and personality he had in the main series, they just made him seem more competent by dumbing everyone else down. I have a few more issues like this with Future, I'm going to definitely save them until you've finished watching so you can form your own opinions(: i am happy you're enjoying it! Im enjoying watching you react to it all the same!

That gem Ronald was rizzing up in the first episode was the sea monster from season 1 that got Connie and steven stuck in his bubble at the bottom of the ocean
