January Ramble ♡ (2024)

Comments

Lived in California for 14 years when I was younger. Glad I moved away. When I went back 14 years later, it seemed like nothing changed or some things changed but little. 🎀

I've only been to LA once, and it was super busy the whole time we were there, but I've been to palm desert a few times which I really liked, and there was like barely any people there which was nice. I got pretty sick not too long ago as well, and it was a pretty bad cough and couldn't taste much either. I haven't watched too many marvel movies in awhile either, just haven't really had any interest 🎀

Sam Dahl

I hated California the 4 years with USMC at Camp Pendleton in San Diego. 🎀🎀🎀

Sacramento CA (like I've mentioned before lmao) is very chill compared to other parts of Cali. Although the worst traffic is around 8-9am and 5-6PM because that's when the most people are either going to, or coming home from work, so that's where traffic is the WORST, idk about the best. I honestly recommend Wonka, I saw it last month and I had a good time. Watching it helped me appreciate the enthusiasm that actors have in musicals. I prefer Marvel. DC characters are a little too OP for my liking and Marvel has more humble powers as well as its just more bright and colorful and DC feels a little more dull. The reason we love these is because we love your personality Erin. It feels like seeing a friend once a month and catching up with them :) 🎀🎀🎀

You mention that you like the snow as long as you're not clearing it or driving in it. And I was listening to this while shoveling lol (and the ramble was almost as long as it took me to finish shoveling. So perfect topic and perfect timing lol. Glad you're feeling better! And I couldn't tell that you are/were feeling under the weather from your voice. And you're not alone for being single for valentine's day. But there's still a month for that to change, so don't count yourself out yet ^.^ (assuming you want to celebrate valentine's this year) And I feel you about going out and partying, I've never been a party guy, but don't mind it here and there. But just chilling with your close friends and family is always a top pick for me. So that's what I usually do for new years. Marvel vs DC? Well DC shoes have always been my favorite since I was young, and I didn't even know Marvel made shoes. So my vote is DC for sure....oh wait...for movies...it's been a bit since I've watched super hero movies or shows. But I used to like DC for TV shows and Marvel for movies. And of course I can't forget the 🎀

🎀 Hey I’m not shy… okay I am but I just don’t know what to say that’s why, I don’t comment a lot ;-; I’m a marvel guy because I grew up with Spider-Man and he’s one of my favorite superheroes but Batman is also great. Actually I don’t really know if I like dc or marvel more I lied. Marvel got the upper hand for now I think... anyway I love you too btw <3

I'm definitely more of a Marvel person than a DC person, much like when I read the comics, but also I'm more agnostic about the brand and much more interested in the characters and creative team, which is how I am about comics. But Spider-Man is the one constant, I've been a huge fan for a loooong time, since I was like 5, and I even have a spidey costume hoodie that my sister gave me and I always get compliments whenever I wear it out. Movies coming out is going to be pretty dry for awhile, given how long the strikes went on for, but Godzilla Minus One and The Boy and The Heron were probably the best movies I've watched in the last month. My favorite movie from last year (Spider-verse aside) was A Haunting in Venice, if you think you'd like a spooky (not horror) detective movie. Movies I don't have a ton of recommendations for, but I do have 2 anime series I love and I will try to sell you on: Spy x Family (Hulu or Crunchyroll) is a super fun show, it's about a Spy who gets fake married to a top assassin, and adopts a psychic daughter, but neither the spy nor assassin knows about the other's true occupation and both are trying to act normal. It has equal parts action, humor, and "kiss already, damn it" but overall it's very light-hearted and fun. Frieren (Crunchyroll) is named after its titular character, an Elf who was part of a party that slayed the legendary demon lord, but now it's 50(?) years later and the leader for the party passes away. At the funeral, Frieren realizes she never took the time to appreciate him as she wanted, being an elf who ages much more slowly, and decides to go back through the same journey, as a kind of eulogy for her friend. It's very sad, but very good. I live in one of the warmer states and it's been below freezing even here lately, no escape for anyone! Edit because I didn't realize I needed to shift-enter on browser. 🎀

Ol Familiar

Yes!! The pink bow hehe🥹

Hey!

Michigan, as random as the weather can be, is great. We get all four seasons and the weather is pretty tame compared to most other states. 🎀

Ramble time! I'll fully concede I'm hesitant to post much. It's less a matter of shyness and more I always feel like I'm intruding and I don't imagine any more interesting than anyone else. I do enjoy listening to these though, if nothing else your voice is immensely relaxing, so I'll try to reply a bit. Glad to hear your holidays went well. RE: Holiday - Honestly mine were kind of rough. I spent most of it sick as hell. I don't know if it was COVID ( at home tests were negative ), but whatever it was, that's as sick as I've ever been in my life. I didn't have a voice at all for a few weeks. My sister and I are getting together tomorrow for THIRD christmas. ( Because people keep getting sick and we have to keep rescheduling ). Ironically, my sister and I's birthday is right after Christmas, same with my brother in law, so at this point we're just gonna celebrate all the things, who cares. Marvel VS DC: Ok, need to keep this short. Any time we get into media analysis ( especially games and movies ), I can go on for hours, it's something I find really interesting. Personally I checked out on the superhero genre pretty hard after Endgame, which felt like an ending to me. And most of the stuff that's come out since, well, the last I watched was Doctor Strange two, and other than Sam Raimi doing some interesting stuff here and there visually, the film did not do its characters any favors. If I were to speculate on the appeal between the two of them, speaking broadly, I think Marvel tends to be more relatable, and DC tends to be more aspirational. Here's your pink bow, have a good one! ( Also let me know if this is the kind of thing you're looking for with replies, etc ) 🎀

Mr.Fabulous

🎀 overall Marvel movies, but I'll admit the over saturation is getting to me. Also, I might have missed you mentioning it, but Argylle is coming out next week, and it looks like a ton of fun. It has Bryce Dallas Howard, Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa and Bryan Cranston in a movie about a spy fiction writer who, turns out whatever she writes ends up coming true.

Peter Taylor

🎀 I like DC more. Besides, recent marvel movies are just not really good.

鄭凱元

🎀 marvel live action movies but DC animated movies

Alpha

How is January almost over? Like didn’t it start yesterday, also finally someone other than me mentioned blue beetle. That movie made me cry but other than that I’ve been kinda done with marvel and DC movies. Also here’s your bow 🎀

Matthew

RAAAMBLEE!! 🎉🎉 and the background music is back!! ☺️ I’m really out of touch with recent movies, but I’m waiting for a series on Apple TV called masters of the air. And I personally prefer marvel. Also I think more random content would be really fun. and the thing that makes your rambles so entertaining, at least for me is the way you are, there’s something about the way you describe and talk about things that makes it super enjoyable and comfortable to listen to, I could listen to you talk for hours and I wouldn’t get bored 🎀🎀

unbread

Californian here 🎀As someone who drives 40+min to work in traffic, you just have to prepare and know the average time in traffic to make it still on time. Driving is the time I listen to ASMR RPs to keep my mind occupied so I'm not going insane from the wild drivers California has. Anyone but You was the first rom com I've seen in a long time. I teared up during the argument scene, because it reminded me of my recent breakup. Definitely very different from the average movies I usually watch.

Hi Erin! As my name suggests, the "holidays" were quiet and peaceful for me. But that's how I want my life to be, so it's not a bad thing. And while we're on the subject of holidays, I don't think Valentine's Day is even a real holiday at all. For single people like me, it's in about the same category as Groundhog Day or Presidents Day (all three of which are in February! What did February ever do to deserve that??😅) On the subject of winter, I also live in a very cold place (Minnesota) and I agree with you that the best way to enjoy winter is to stay indoors. Hey, at least it gives me a chance to catch up on my reading (although I'll never actually catch up on all of it!!) And as for the dry itchy skin, I can assure you that you're not alone. It's just part of winter here in the cold, dry upper Midwest. But that's all I have for now. Thanks so much for doing these rambles, Erin! I always love listening to them! 🏹. (oops, wrong "bow" there! Sorry!😄)

Yes!!! My favorite time of the month. Listening now as I play a game. 😊 Edit: Glad you had a good Christmas. I didn't do anything crazy myself. Just chilled with the family, had a little more to drink than anticipated and just overall had a good time. Also, when it comes to Marvel or DC, personally, I like both, mostly with games. I don't really watch the newer movies anymore but I always enjoyed the games. The Batman Arkham games, Spider-Man, the old gamecube and ps1 stuff, etc. Although, No Way Home, top notch. And one of my favorites from Marvel is the Punisher but shame they cancelled the netflix series. Well, I really enjoyed this ramble like always. Looking forward to the next one and whatever else you plan on posting in the future. Take care, Erin and I hope you'll have a have a marvelous day. 😊 Sadly, I can't find the pink bow emoji in my phone as it's an old android so here's a pink heart instead. 💕 Edit 2: Found it haha. 🎀

I love ugly fps games
