Even if she does own up to not getting a job, she thinks why the fuck should she as long as she can milk Lester. She prefers to roll with the flow now and accept it... to just get along...no matter what/who it is. She wanted more than a 'bye mom' from the girls, but didn't pursue it....she could have flipped off the honking car, grab her girls and hug and kiss them if she really wanted that connection. That spoke volume to me. Her telling Dan basically she's done with all the bickering...her attitude has totally changed to 'it's about me now, so get over it'...wanting him to fuck her hard and deeper like Lester does, but he couldn't get her off and wasn't big enough to give her the satisfying fucking she was asking for...this was also telling Imo. Giving him a blow job even when he couldn't satisfy her I think was perhaps the last time Dan will have sex with Sarah. I think when the story does end...they should have an amical divorce, for the kids sake... if nothing else show support for them. But hasn't both of them been out of touch with reality since Lester's first involvement? But even after their first encounter, they both have had ample opportunities to 'Stop' spiraling out of control. I get it...in order for total corruption one of them has to be totally corrupted. Not very exciting if a loving wife story turns out that the husband was the one being corrupted. Don't get me wrong...I want to see Sarah dragged as far down as Lester and others can take her...scrapping beneath the surface where ever the bottom is. But, I also want her to realize it was because 'She' let it happen. Then I'd like to see her rise from those hellish gates and see that 'all the men' in her life was complicit with it all. Every single one of them. Her ultimate break through moment should be her realizing not one single man in her orbit has protected her...not even her father.

Why I said Sarah could have a future of dumpster diving with Cash. Drug use remains to be seen but Sarah's addiction to sex makes her a strong candidate for substance abuse. I think all Lester has to do is tell her to take any drug and she would just by telling her it would make the sex better. Sarah has become hopeless as a mother a wife a daughter a person.

And I'm not talking about their joint escapades with Richard and Marie, but about how infantile, passive, and irresponsible she became. At the beginning of the story, Sarah seemed much more proactive than Dan and made important decisions for the family. Now she is in complete disarray and freezes up at any slightly important decision, even without any particular pressure or manipulation from Lester. For example, her excuses for not looking for a job are simply ridiculous, and in fact, she just can't admit to herself that she has become addicted to being a prostitute for money. Even Dan, who is still failing at everything, seems more composed. I think someone has already written this, and I can only confirm that her current course is leading her straight to becoming a cheap whore with alcohol and drug problems. So I can agree with the commenter above who says that divorce is the desired outcome. Except that Sarah cites Dan's instability as the reason for the impossibility of returning to a happy marriage, too many “maybes.” Though in fact, the main instability at the moment has been revealed within Sarah herself — she simply fails the test as a good wife and mother, and it is impossible to build a future with such a woman. In a way, Dan should thank Lester for his work, because all of this has always been inside Sarah, and if it weren't for Lester, it would have come out a little later, at some inappropriate moment. This is not a story about how a sociopath corrupted an ideal family; it is a story about how Lester pushed the right buttons with a couple who were as predisposed to it as possible. Looking back, yes, Dan very often passively froze at moments when he could have said stop, but there is another side to each of these moments: Sarah herself never said stop and always actively threw herself at the cock with minimal hesitation. Love alone is not enough; all the arguments Sarah gave Dan are true, but in reality, they work against her too.

The family can’t live on Dan’s maybe’s. He decides to pick her up when the girls are home, and she lets him. All it takes is one look out the window… Moreover, she accepts she’s having sex for money now. “Earning the paycheck.” She’s fully coming on board with the pregnancy. She’s soon going to be as obsessed with it as Lester is. She’ll be fully, completely his. …and then Cronos is also getting close. Close to capturing Lester’s empire including all his “assets”. Which, by the time he strikes, will irreversibly also include Sarah. Lester has prepared her, deeply and thoroughly. But it seems a stronger man will have the return on investment.
