Besides the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, girls often choose husbands who are somewhat similar to their fathers, so he and Dan may have a lot more common than it seems.

But given his thoughts in this chapter, it looks like he wants her unemployed and totally beholden to him. Seems that he wants to implement the final part of his plan. This story has got to reach a conclusion, it can’t just keep going and going. Of course it can keep on going and going, but it will seriously diminish the very reasons why this story was so compelling. Personally, whatever ending DS wants to implement would be fine by me, but it has to be compelling and somewhat believable, while having some closure for the three main characters of Sarah, Dan and Lester. What this story does not need is new storylines, e.g, Lester and Renee, Dan and Trish, Sarah and Thornhill, Otis or whoever. If there is a demand for this, make them new stories, but let’s have closure on this one, something that we can tie back to the beginning of the story and say “wow, what a journey.,” regardless of who wines, loses, feels regret, etc. Good stories can become great stories with a compelling ending, But great stories can be severely diminished with no endings or non-compelling endings. And….it is getting very tiring seeing Lester as the puppet master while everyone around him seems to have lost any ability to think logically or act with clarity.
