Edit: Also, make sure your sources are credible and reliable. A lot of people think you are hacks. By doing both of those things. It will help you appease the haters, and make you much more respected by actual historians.

Corollary: The only reason the Colosseum is in Rome is because it was too heavy for Napoleon to bring to The Louvre. Gotta hand it to the Romans, though; they managed to cart off a bunch of enormous obelisks from Egypt to Rome that are still in Rome because they could carry heavier loads before the words "Britain" and "France" had even been coined.
