Hello, You Amazing Patreon Members!

Our next theme is The Napoleonic Wars!

That's right Extra Historians, dust off your Hornblower and get that sword Sharpe, we're going to the Napoleonic era! The Napoleonic Wars of 1803-1815 changed Europe as we know it, shattering monarchies and spreading revolutionary ideas—while also giving us some of the most dramatic tales of the 19th century. For this topic vote, we'll be accepting topics that deal with this period. It could cover a particular event, such as the Peninsular Campaign, the Hundred Days (culminating in Waterloo) or Napoleon's invasion of Russia. Alternately we could examine a specific historical character—whether that be Napoleon himself, the eventual Duke of Wellington, or a small but fascinating character like Thomas Cochrane, the daring frigate captain whose life inspired both Horatio Hornblower and Patrick O'Brian's Jack Aubrey, and who went on to work as a mercenary in South America. Topics that connect directly to the wars, such as the rise of Napoleon, will also be considered.

You can enter YOUR suggestions for the topic HERE in this form.

I suggest a series on the life of King Charles the XIV Johan of sweden. He was born as Jean Baptiste in Pau soutwest france as a normal commoner. He became one of Napoleons Marshalls and was eventually offred the swedish crown after a coup. He became the king of sweden and invaded norway brining the two countries into a personal union. I have never seen anyone cover him at all.

Thank you so much for all the amazing suggestions!

Extra History

I suggest on Admiral Nelson, who was both critical for the Napoleonic wars in terms of the naval conflict and revolutionary to the naval warfare in general. He is also not that covered by other channels (not as other aspects of the Napoleonic wars)

Nimrod

I suggested a look at the wars through an economic and resource-based lens, kind of like that series on World War II way back when.

General Luigi

Just sent a suggestion for The Battle of Jena!

POLAND!!!! Dear God Please, let "Partitions of Poland and Duchy of Warsaw" make it to the poll this time! The fate of the Commonwealth is so underdiscussed when talking about the French Revolutionary Period and Napoleonic Wars -- even though, geopolitically speaking, they don't really make sense without taking them into context! COME ON GUYS!
