The Robin Hood myths are based on the real life Fulke FitzWarin Lord of Whittington (b.1180 - d.1258) and his wife Maud(Matilda) le Vavasour. There is an account from the early 14thc called the Romance of Fouke le Fitz Waryn.

Actually, Eleanor is in the Russel Crowe Robin Hood film, played by Eileen Atkins, so she is in at least one modern reimagining of the story.
