Our theme for May & June is BREAKING THE TIMELINE—1930s and 40s
As you all know, we have a 100-year cutoff for our regular series—meaning that currently we only accept topics for vote if they take place before 1929. This is so we can get proper historical distance, and so we don't spend most of our time in the mid-to-late 20th century.
But what is a rule, if you don't break it every once in a while? We haven't had a sponsored episode for the 1930s or 40s for awhile, and it's feeling like time to revisit those crucial decades that brought us the Great Depression, the leadup to the Second World War, the beginning of the Cold War.
This topic vote will cover events that happened principally between 1930-1949, or historical characters who performed most of their notable actions then. Want to hear about the rise of Japanese militarism? The New Deal? The Winter War between the Soviet Union and Finland? How about the Battle of Midway or Manhattan Project? Now's your chance!
