Suggestion Survey is Open through 4/10

Our theme for March/April surveys is ROME: EMPERORS & EMPIRES.

For centuries, Rome dominated the Mediterranean world. In this series, we’ll take a closer look at one episode in this history—perhaps the life of Caesar, Spartacus’ rebellion, or that time Caligula tried to murder his mom with a booby-trapped party yacht. From the Colosseum to the Capitaline, we’ll explore the glory (and the gory) that was Rome.

Some notes about your suggestions:

That would be a unique one!

His Dustyness

I don't know if you've done this yet, but a series on Emperors Claudius and Nero would be cool...

His Dustyness

I suggested Emperor Diocletian and the Tetrarchy. There are tons of interesting things about Diocletian's rule, but it is rare for us to hear about Roman emperors choosing to share power rather than retaining all for themselves.

Bel

I confess I submitted 'The Worst Roman Emperor'. The idea being to have the Extra History staff compare Emperor's to figure out who's reign did the most harm to Rome as a whole. Yes, history isn't as simple as to blame an individual for all the problems, but Rome did have some... quote on quote 'Interesting' Emperors.

Bright Ops

History of the Cossacks. They are an amazing people with some very interesting history and I think a series on them would be wonderfully interesting. Note, I plan on suggesting this topic at every chance I get :)

Dr.V

How about the last Byzantium Emperor when the Ottoman Empire came crashing? Or is that one not good?

Lady Bug

I suggest a series on the 3rd century crisis - an important, and very defining era for the roman empire.

Nimrod

Since the Punic Wars were covered in a fair bit of detail, it would be great if there could be another series based on Rome's fight with another major rival, Sassanian Persia. Some of it was covered with the fantastic series on Khosrau Anushirawan but some focus could be used on the earlier confrontations (Gordian and Valerian vs Ardashir and Shapur) and later ones (Heraclius vs Khosrau II) which left both empires vulnerable to the rise of the Muslim caliphates from Arabia.

Samuel D Tahami

Sorry for the confusion! You can suggest once each survey, meaning that technically everyone has the chance to make two suggestions for one poll.

Extra History

I suggested the life of Cicero

Joël Quenneville

Do a series on the 5 good emperors

Francis DiStefano

Sorry if I'm the idiot who doesn't get it but it says 1 suggestion per person and 2 surveys for 1 poll. Can I give 1 suggestions in each survey, 2 suggestions for 1 poll, or am I only supposed to respond to 1 survey.
