The Boston Massacre - Snow and Gunpowder

Boston, 1770.

A frigid winter night. A British sentry strikes a local citizen. Civilians begins to gather. Reinforcements arrive to back up the young sentry. Insults and snowballs escalate. Then out of the darkness comes a shout: “FIRE!”

More like the movie set fight from Mel Brooks' "Blazing Saddles" :-)

If anything I thought that it was more in favor of the British.

I'm English and I didn't feel any Offence at all watching this.

The Question in such a Reality being, would said Barroom Brawl help Turn Public Opinion against the Sons of Liberty by making them seem more like Violent Thugs rather than Freedom Fighters?

Martin Verran

Haha, I love the image of a diplomatic tea party erupting into a barroom brawl. Sounds like a great scene for short film. - A

Extra History

Well that video was biased as hell. Was the cartoonist specifically instructed 'Make the British look as evil as possible?' The bare bones of what happened are clear, but the precise sequence of events that lead to the shots being fired is not something well established in history. There are too many contradictory eye witness statements for it to be otherwise. Maybe Extra History should make it a bit more clear when they're moving away from 'what we know happened' and more into 'what we want to be true'.

ANTIcarrot

The Kittens would have been most disPURRleased by both side's behaviour, had they been around at that Time.

Martin Verran

Yeah, glad to see we've grown past that since the eighteenth - oh wait . . .

Tiberia Prima

Fake news and clickbait work, unfortunately.

Alternate History Idea: what if, Following the Boston Tea Party, the Royalist Governor, Thomas Hutchinson, Organised his Own, far more Civilised Tea Party to try and mend Relations between the Royalists and the American Colonists. Then, the Sons of Liberty arrive, again in Disguise, and start smashing up Tables and Chairs, and a fight ensues between the party goers and the Sons of Liberty, attracting the attention of a Group of Redcoats who Decide to find out what all the Commotion is about.

mmmm a tragic event twisted by biased news sources to push political agendas mmmm this is sounding all to familiar in this day and age.

Jacob Ashton

Probably not so much a "Massacre" as a "Brawl in the Snow Involving Panicking Soldiers."
