2018-05-08 04:40:29 +0000 UTCIt was a disease well-known in Mali at the time and well-attested in the Arab histories that we know about the Mali Empire from - the opening of trade routes spread it through the empire and it was always fatal. Mansa Djata II died from it in 1374. I honestly can't find *any* reference to the cause of Mansa Maghan's death - just the fact that he only ruled for 4 years. I'm curious to know where they found a link between him and sleeping sickness (or foul play as they imply), or if they got him and Mansa Djata II confused (he was another financially ruinous ruler after all).
