Kamehameha the Great - I: The Lonely One - Extra History
Added 2017-06-02 16:53:47 +0000 UTC
King Kamehameha brought the Hawaiian Islands from a dozen warring territories to a unified and global kingdom.
Thank you for this look at Hawaiian history. My only other look was back in the late 1960s, when a female classmate did a report on Liliuokalani, last ruler of an independent Hawaii.

Ah yes, I'd almost forgotten that Articles was four parts. I'll enjoy Kamehameha's story and the WWII episodes in the meantime :D

Eh it's fine. Kamehameha is cool and I'm glad we're doing him it's just I was looking forward to the sea people because I'm Sicilian and that's one of the, like, four historical things we're known for

Rob Rath (who wrote these episodes, and also the Bismarck set) is from Hawaii, so this was something he's wanted to write about for a long time!

My advice would be don't rely on Patreon to build your primary community, because as much as I love Patreon it doesn't give great tools to attract new people to your work on the site itself. Places like Facebook and Twitter are much better for that. Once you do have people (usually from those sites, or from wherever your work lives) join you on Patreon, though, just remember to interact with the community. They're here because they enjoy your work and they want to support you, so talk with them! ...And don't follow my example, because I've been MIA for about two weeks due to workload. Sorry about that. :\

They'll be here, starting on June 24! This is just a two part mini-series (hence the numbering).

This one's just a one-off (or rather, a two-off) which doesn't have related closing music because we can't compose that much music, that fast. ;)

This one's only two episodes long, but I think they're a very good set! I'm excited for this Saturday. :)

Russian Revolution would be a valid topic, and Czar Nicholas was on the voting list rather recently (about six weeks ago, I think?) but it lost. So we won't be doing that one, though we could come back to it in the future!

It'll come on June 24! It's the next full series, but this is a little two parter in between the end of Articles of Confederation and the Lies episode for that series.

Bronze Age Collapse will be the next full series, starting on June 24! Kamehameha is a two-parter, then there will be a Lies episode.

Russian Revolution is just outside of the too soon mark. They do series on anything before 1920.

I actually love the idea of doing a series on the Russian Revolution. That shouldn't be too soon with a 100 year mark.

1917 revolution is probably still 'too soon', and it ties in quite a bit into the Great War which was touched already. I'd personally love to see how artists would depict Lenin giving a speech on top of an APC, but I doubt it would happen soon.

I'd never heard any Hawaiian history before, so this is definitely an interesting change. I love when people I'd not really heard much about get their own series and they end up being great (another example being South Sea Company)

Hawaiian history, nice. You're going to make a Russian revoution series this autumn, right? With it being 100 years and all. If you don't, you could make something about Finland, considering that's another 100 year anniversary.
