I think also because growing up in Munchkin land she faced so much "small mindedness" about her appearance

I love thank goodness SO MUCH it’s honestly in my opinion better than no good deed and Glinda isn’t even my favorite character I much prefer Elphaba also this movie is so good coming from someone who watched it in theaters 6 times

I agree with this. We are seeing emotions across her face. The acting is taking priority over the notes.

I honestly really liked the As Long As You're Mine sequence, but like... Very specifically from a comphet point of view. So much of Wicked, especially with these performances, is so interesting if you look at it with a queer lens. Which wasn't necessarily the express intention, but it is supported by the author of the book, as well as many of the major people involved in the movie, so I like to analyze it in that way. The awkwardness of that sequence was super relatable as a person who's experienced things like societal expectations that a person of the opposite sex is my partner, not recognizing that feelings for a person of the opposite sex can be platonic, etc.

love seeing your reaction to the movie as a musical theatre fan! I actually also found Ariana's tonal change in thank goodness a little jarring though of course I could never hope to sing anywhere near as good as her haha but you had loads of interesting points throughout and I love how much you appreciate the talent especially with Ari & Cynthia 💕

I feel like you’re only focusing on the singing and not the performance, thinking of it as if they were on stage (where we can barely see the actor’s expressions) instead of on film/tv where they have to convey how the character feels inside (from facial expressions, to mannerisms, to acting choices). Ari is making those choices while singing, but because she’s also acting & portraying the emotions simultaneously. None of these notes are high for Ari, but given the emotions that Glinda is going through, it doesn’t make sense for her to be relaxed

Crazy part is the whole closet scene with them crying was all improv by Ariana and Cynthia

Always love your reactions❤️ if you want to know a little more about the lore of the musical in relation of how oz works (having a prince and also the wizard and other stuffs), there is a youtube that made a video about it. It is insane and really interesting, it is Bernadette Banner.
