Nov Update - Dev Status and Collectables Post Launch

It's once again time for the monthly update!

I'm sure it's been odd with me saying that I wont be posting to focus on development, and then having a lot of posts lol. I just wanted to be sure to release all of the promised content here. Which is why the posts were just quickly thrown up rather than on any set schedule. I may do other quick little posts like that for the outfits from the last poll as I finish them. Not really sure yet though. At the very least, I'll still be doing monthly updates like this so people know what I've been working on.

On to some progress made on the game!

In terms of content, I've got all the new scenes for the starters and then the working girls made. They just need to be put into the game. I'll be implementing pregnancy for Ayako, Kaori, and the working girls with the new scenes too. I'll also be implementing the ability to unlock Ayako and Kaori if you didn't choose them at the start of the game. I've started on this, but it's not done yet. I'm almost done with the collectables rework as well. I also made it so Mirai is now seduceable after you've unlocked the apartments and talked to her outside of where the new neighborhood was going to be. She doesn't have a new scene, but you can now repeat her TJ scene, or get it for the first time if you didn't unlock it initially. And lastly I've got design work done for 3 characters, the final lab character, the random beach babe, and the random office lady.

Most of my time was spent on the collectables rework last month though. It's been a big undertaking and I've made them a lot better. For one, now when you enter the commercial district for the first time, you're approached by the collectables guy and it starts the quest automatically. This way no one should miss the quest. I've also implemented the collectables in a new way. Now you can see all of the collectables on the map. However, you have to find them in the set order. So once you've found #1 in a set, #2 will appear, and so on. It makes finding the collectables a bit more fun and involved now, and gives more reason to go through areas multiple times and gives out the rewards more gradually. This should help balance things out a bit and keep collectables from breaking the game now that more have been put in. Plus, now you don't have to worry about randomly checking every object to search for collectables anymore. Which should make them a little less frustrating and much easier to get them all. Since they have to be done in order, you also get a bonus for collecting all of a single set. Meaning collectables now pay more than they used to. I've removed the receipt system as well, because they were clogging up the inventory quite a bit. They've all been converted to a "Relic" item that you can sell. I thought that would be a nice bonus for those who got collectables initially.

Anyway, I'm hard at work on completing the final patron release. Since it's only for patrons, I don't have to worry about releasing on a specific day, and it will be released as soon as it's done.

And that's about it. I'm just chipping away at the last block of content. Not having to update with big posts every week has helped to speed things up quite a bit. I'm working a little more free form as well, which has made things smoother and easier for me to get work done when I have more limited time.

Collectables Post Launch -

While doing the collectables rework, I had a realization, I can just release a patch to include collectable images. The steam release will just have blank images, but I'll post the patch here. I wont be able to give credit to all of the artists involved in the actual game, like LMSketch for the lines on the 2D work and the various people who made the models for the 3D work. But I'll include the credits in the folder with the patch so that it's there in some way still.

So that's good news! Because up until now I was considering collectables complete once the rework was done, and they just wouldn't be appearing in unfinished areas like the Office Building, which is planned to be massive. But now I'll be able to include more sets and add them into the later areas.

Keeping It Short -

I don't want to spend a lot of time on this post, so that's going to be it for this month's update! Next month will hopefully be the last update before a full release! I'll be working on getting the steam page up so that the game can be wishlisted as soon as I get the final patron release out. I'll be posting it here, and it'll be a huge help to wishlist the game! Even if you don't plan on buying it/are getting a free key already, just wishlisting will help the game out a lot, and it's free! I hope everyone is looking forward to the full release of Waifu Wonderland!
