Another month has gone by and we finally saw the release of v0.2.1! I hope everyone is enjoying it!
Good news everyone -
First, I wanted to mention some good news for Waifu Wonderland. Basically, I'm going to have more time than I thought, and may be able to add more than originally planned to v0.3.
I finally got a more solid date for when I'll be moving to Japan. Up until now, I heard it would be anywhere from January to March. But recently the company I got hired for did a QA and said that the start date will be April 1st. On top of that, they've said to have at least enough money for one month of expenses. Both of those things say to me that I'll be going sometime in March. Probably the start of the month. I can't imagine going any earlier than that if my first day is on April 1st. About a month to get setup and go through training makes sense though, so I'm betting on going in early March now.
Since I had such a loose timeframe, I had been planning on moving at the earliest estimate, sometime in January. So I've been planning on finishing up v0.3 of Waifu Wonderland before that. However, knowing I'll be leaving closer to April and likely moving in March, means I can add an extra couple of months.
So I've decided to push back the initial goal of hitting 50 paid supporters or $200 to the end of January, rather than the end of December. I'll also talk about how the plans have been affected after the poll results. We've definitely been getting closer, but we've still got a ways to go to hit the goal. You can support for just $1 a month, and if even just half of free supporters did so, we'd be past the goal!
Poll Results -
Alright, now for the poll results!
Here's a fancy new sideways graph. Because the site I use added new options lol.

Let's break down the winners!
1) For the first set, the very clear winner with the most raw votes and way beyond everything else with weights is Cass Hamada/Aunt Cass! I plan on doing an animation for her and then I'll be taking key frames and putting them in-game as collectables. I'll still release the animation here on Patreon though! I've put together a custom version of the model that I'll be using, I hope everyone looks forward to it!
2) The write-in option was a bit of a test. I thought that if any poll would have write-ins, it would be this one. So I put this in with the thought that if gets some votes, I'll start doing write-ins for other polls too. But there ended up being only a single write-in vote. Since there was just one, it's the winner by default. This set will be Nyl's Widowmaker. For anyone unfamiliar, this is a custom futa version of Widowmaker. I haven't done any futa yet, so it should be pretty interesting to do. I'll probably release this set alongside the unique futa character, and do a partially futa focused update.
3) Now for the wild card! For fun, I put every vote for all the losing options into a wheel randomizer instead of a normal randomizer, and recorded a video of the spin. I put one option in for every weight. Let's see who won!

That's right, it's Ifalna! I guess I actually have to finish her model port now lol.
4) The fourth set was supposed to be for if we got over 20 votes, since that was the previous record for number of votes on a poll. Unfortunately, we weren't able to break the record, and don't get this set. We did get close though with 17 total votes, which is still impressive!
5) That was where the poll ended, but I've decided to do a bonus set! Sort of! I was planning on doing either a set or an animation for all of the characters eventually, and the voted on options were all in my personal top 10 already. So I decided to let the wheel decide another one to do, among the options that were voted for. Since this is a bonus one that's more to help me decide/plan which character to use after these sets, and isn't actually part of the poll, I didn't include weights for this one. To the wheel!

And it looks like it's Blackfire!
And that's all for this poll! I'll likely eventually be doing all of these characters at some point, so even if the person you voted for didn't win, they may still get a set down the line! I know at the very least I'll eventually do Jessie, since I already have an animation for her started from a while ago.
The poll winner sets will be made and implemented into the game across the v0.3 cycle. If they get done and implemented quickly, I'll likely do another poll.
Thanks to everyone who voted!
Monthly Update -
In addition to getting the news that I'll have more time, I also realized that I forgot to include the scenes that were planned for polls in the previous roadmap. Like the one running now to decide which "side" characters get a new scene/outfit.

At least one "Mystery" Poll - I haven't decided exactly what it'll be yet. It's still too far out. Since this is effectively ~2 months from now.
This new plan brings us to roughly 55 new pieces of art that still need to be made. This is just new artwork, not stuff like pregnancy variations. This also includes 3D work and the male faces, which should be much faster than normal or be made outside of my normal dedicated WW dev time. Since the 3D work will be shared on my Twitter with my other 3D work. Since I tend to have to cut content to get major releases out in time, I decided not to really add that much. The only two things I moved from "would be nice" was the gloryhole and then Angela's extra scene.
The gloryhole because I just really like that idea and don't think it will take too much time to do the artwork or implement. It'll also give a good excuse to add in a new area. I also was originally going to just have it be a BJ, but decided to also include anal and vaginal versions. Since it really shouldn't be much more work, and I wanted to include some more anal content. Just having a BJ and anal would be a little weird though, which is why I also included normal sex.
And then Angela got another scene because I can now implement her final scene the way I originally wanted to, and it's basically already done.
I also added in Hikari's scene, because I forgot to include it in the original plans.
The poll content is the biggest change here. If I didn't have the extra time, I probably would have cut out some of the rare women and likely the Random MILF (since the other random characters are absolutely needed, as their areas would be empty without them). The poll options will pull from the would be nice list. I'm just giving all of you the power to choose what to pull.
Lastly, I decided to pull the two apartment storyline characters from needed to would be nice. I really wanted the needed section to be just the bare minimum for a steam release. These two were the most unneeded and would have taken the most time. It was hard to do because I liked their designs and their story is one of the first ones I came up with, but they can still make it in. They'll probably be the first thing I pull from "would be nice" if I get through the needed list.
And now for the would be nice list -
New Side Characters -
Neighborhood Character x5 (one for each house)
Apartment Character (one for every apartment)
Sexy Doctor
Unique Nurse
Coworker Office Lady x2
Seika's Friend
Beach Gyaru
Ai (for Shizuka's storyline, to replace random schoolgirl)
Mrs. Claus
Librarian
Apartment Storyline Characters -
Neighbor
Neighbor's daughter
MMC Storyline Characters -
MFMAP Character (Main heroine from what was going to be the third MMC game)
Ms. Hartley sex scene
Lab Storyline -
Catgirl/Minotaur Inspired (depends which one I end up going with) x2
Other monstergirl inspired designs x4 then x2 scenes each
Office Storyline -
Your Boss (as a woman)
New Scenes for Existing Characters -
Ayako
Kaori
Shiori
Almiranda
Freya
Skadi
Hitomi
Final lab character
The Working Girls x3
Random/Rare Women -
Random MILF 2 (current one is planned to be a thicc MILF type , this would be a skinnier more surburban housewife/soccer mom type)
Random Police Woman
Random Bride (you'd go into the church and find a random bride having second thoughts about the wedding, and be able to seduce and bang them)
Random Nun
Random Swimmer
Other Stuff -
Cut-Ins
And that's all the would be nice stuff. It's mostly the same, except I cut down the number of apartment women. I don't think I'd ever be able to get all of them filled, and so I've started putting existing characters into some of the empty ones. It makes sense for these characters to have a place in the world where they live too. I also replaced adding the mom from the end of Holiday in with giving Ms. Hartley a new scene instead.
The biggest sort of real cut, was that I decided to take out the random teacher/coach. I did like that idea, but I think it would be pretty unnecessary compared to everything else here. There's already 3 teachers at the school with Ms. Hartley, Shizuka, and Rinko. Then there's also going to be Ms. Tyler and the Dean. That's already 5 teachers. On top of that, there really isn't much more room in the university area. With random schoolgirls and cheerleaders, the normal characters, and then the random guys, it's the most dense area of the game now. I did want a coach character, and was going to make that part of the random teacher, but it's not really a popular type of character and with so many other things to be making, I'd much rather make a character for another area.
As the game is still in development, of course these plans could change. I'm going to be breaking down the larger plan into smaller chunks as I go. New characters or stories could be added, some stuff could get taken away or changed. It can depend on poll results, how much support the game gets, or things may just not work as well as I wanted while working on them.
Collectables Update -
The last thing I wanted to give an update on is collectables. I still need to resize them to fit into the game, but I've gone through and put together all the 3D sets that I've done so far, so I'd have an idea of what I'm working with before starting on the poll sets. And there's a total of 15 sets and 104 individual renders. This includes one unreleased set and then all of the public sets I've done, as well as screenshots of keyframes from animations I've done. It's a lot more than I had thought it was. For context, there's only 59 total collectables currently in the game. So if I put in all 84 renders, it would be brought up to 143 total collectables. Which is way too many. The game isn't big enough for that many right now. I could put them all in, but they'd be EVERYWHERE. And that's only if I were to only implement the current 3D sets. That doesn't count the sets that will come from the poll or any of the other 2D sets I had planned on implementing. So I had to cut things down a bit.
First I went through the 3D sets to trim them down. I cut out the more iterative renders, ones that would be kind of weird alone instead of in a set, and chose the best and more popular renders. These full sets are publicly available, and people can choose to find them on my twitter or places like R34 if they'd like. After that, I got the sets down to 73. I'm also going to be doing a max of 5 for each of the poll sets to keep things down to a more reasonable level.
Next I decided I'm going to cut down the Vicky set that's already in the game. It's 23 of the current 59, and while it is one of my favorite sets, it's taking up way too many slots. This is the only set in-game that I'll be cutting anything from. The other sets are small enough already. I ended up slimming it down to 17. This wont be changed in the game until the collectables update and I'll keep including the cut versions in the full CG sets.
Then I went through the 2D sets I had wanted to include. Originally there were 16 more sets with a whopping 264 individual images. Believe it or not, this was already after I spent a lot of time cutting down which sets to include and which of my favorite variations to include. This was also meant to be collectables included up through the final tier of the game and across all of the planned areas though. But even so, that's way too many. So I had to start cutting them down.
First thing I did was I decided to split the black guy variations and white guy variations to be exclusive to their respective versions. At least for the sets that have both. I didn't start doing that until a bit later, so most of the sets still only have the white guy. Just doing that cut things down to 181, which was a good start, but not nearly enough.
So I started going through and cutting sets that were very similar and ones that I didn't think would be too popular. I was able to get it down to 127. So from a total of 264 to 127, which I'd say is a pretty solid place to be. Since this is meant to be for the fully realized game.
Then finally, I went through the remaining sets and decided which ones to put in the current cycle up to v0.3. I decided on 3 sets with a total of 21. So with the addition of the 3D renders and assuming 5 renders for the polls sets, that's another 114 collectables to be added in across the v0.3 cycle. Almost double what's currently in-game. I'm definitely going to be expanding some areas to help make room.
Lastly, with the rework I'll be renaming the collectables to have a bit more generic names. Since I'll be pulling the artwork itself from the Steam release, I don't want to also have to go back in and rename everything. So it'll be abbreviations of the set. Like if you found Annie Hughes number 1, it would be called AH01.
Collectables Rework Release -
With all of that fun context out the way, I'm going to be doing the collectables rework with v0.2.3. Then from there, I'll be adding at least one new collectable set with each update. I wanted to do the rework for v0.2.2, but I'm not sure if there's going to be enough time and I don't want to delay the release of v0.2.2 if it doesn't get done. Since once I start the rework, I can't release until it's completely done. And it's going to take a while. I also don't want to be rushed. That way I can make sure no mistakes get made and it doesn't end up with some doubles or anything missing like there is now. So it's the very first thing I'll be doing after the v0.2.2 release. Along with it will be the addition of some of the 3D render sets.
Update Completed -
And that's it for this month's update! I hope everyone has been enjoying v0.2.1 and is looking forward to more being added! Be sure to go vote in the poll if there's an existing character you'd like to see get a new scene, this may be their last chance!
