Pick a Topic for Extra History!
Added 2015-01-21 00:10:04 +0000 UTCThe polls are open, and it's time for you to vote on what topic Extra History should cover in the future! Link: http://bit.ly/1C6flmh Votes are due before midnight (PST) on Saturday, January 24. Two of these subjects will look familiar to you if you've been with us for a while... and that's because they are viewer suggestions from previous months! We want to make sure that the topics YOU want to discuss get a chance, so we're only using viewer suggestions this month. You spoil us with such good suggestions, how could we not!

2015-01-23 16:07:57 +0000 UTCI'm not quite sure what you're asking for here, since this is entirely patron-suggested topics already! Patrons at the $15 tier suggest a topic every month, and we hold a raffle to see which patron topic makes it in to the vote.

2015-01-23 13:57:06 +0000 UTCI did that for previous ones, but dropped it here because I wasn't sure if it was helpful or not. Good to hear that it was - it shall return for future votes!
Extra History
2015-01-23 13:55:25 +0000 UTCNormally every fourth vote, with some variation if (for example) a Patreon-suggested topic wins on it own. In this case, we moved it up to the third vote because we haven't seen any Patreon-suggestion topic win (though they've come in second both times) and we wanted to make sure they got a second chance.

2015-01-23 13:54:59 +0000 UTCBut, I want to hear about them all. I ended up choosing the Spanish Inquisition, as it's a topic I have always skimmed past, but find interesting. The Zulu Empire is a good choice too. I don't know a whole lot about it before its unfortunate run-in with the British Empire. Alexander is a fascinating topic too, but I already have a couple of books and wargames covering his campaigns.

2015-01-22 15:05:06 +0000 UTCVoted Zulu, but it would be interesting to see how they could cover the inquisition without it being absolutely horrifying.

2015-01-21 21:54:14 +0000 UTCI would really like to see a patron submission topic at some point but under stand that going though all the ideas people would submit would be very time consuming for you. FYI: if you did I would probably ask to see and episode on: The Golden Age of Piracy, or China, or the North Africa Pre-Islamic Empires.

2015-01-21 16:17:44 +0000 UTCVoted Zulu, had to read about it on Wikipedia first.

2015-01-21 07:42:27 +0000 UTCMay I suggest adding a description for each topic? Partly to add just some information about the time in history and the part of the world in which the events takes place, and partly to describe your focus.

2015-01-21 06:10:01 +0000 UTCHurrah for the Zulu Empire! I do think it is a good idea with these Patreon-suggested votes. Will they be the case every second or third voting?

2015-01-21 05:51:21 +0000 UTC"No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!" *is shot* Seriously though the one I picked was the Zulu Empire since it was the one I know the least about already :)
Tammy Spiller
2015-01-21 05:16:20 +0000 UTCGoing with Zulu Empire just because the other two are covered in occidental history books. We know very little about the amazing history of Africa, and it should help lifting the veil of it a bit.

2015-01-21 04:04:53 +0000 UTCNote: viewing the results of the vote will only show you percentages, not the number of votes. We had too many people last time saying "South Seas is way too far ahead for anything to catch it!" and we want to avoid that happening this time. Nothing is a foregone conclusion!
