Sengoku Jidai Starts November 8

While the vote on the next-next mini-series (oy) wraps up tonight, I thought we'd all enjoy a look ahead to the upcoming topic: Sengoku Jidai! This series on the Warring States Era of Japan will begin on November 8.

Thanks ! I´m little by little learning to use Flash properly and I feel more confident after the seminal tragedy arc.

I was lucky enough to have Global Ed. teacher all the way can in 7th grade that actually loved what he taught. Talk about tangential learning. I've never study more for anything I knew I would never be tested on. These series's remind me of that passion every time. I personally guarantee you are making people want to learn. something oh so rear. I really hope this is getting to the class rooms...make a series on the history of physics and I can promise it will.

After reading about potentially 6 episodes, my first thought was that it would make us miss out on other areas of history simply by delay and the simply truth that all good things, eventually, will come to an end. What if we don't get our fix before then? I started to consider just a single point about this era, wondered for a moment and then thought, "nah, they won't cover that." which caused me to start thinking about other subjects and damned if I'm not wondering if 6 will be enough! My final thought went to my twisted humor where I decided, after fallowing EC and it's extensions for years, I'm just going to have to eat their brains to gain the tasty knowledge.

I am all in favor of 6 episodes. There is an infinite amount of history to get through, why not take the time to make sure that the topic you chose to focus on is covered well and thoroughly?

Fredegar Deepdelver

I think, in the case of Bismark, they already learned a lot of cool stuff about him in their research, but didn't have time to get into it during the series.

Brian Rose

If it covers enough why not?

Iriscilla Ayala

Cool I have very little experience with non-Western history.

Iriscilla Ayala

Wow! I don't know much about japanese history, but I am super excited to learn about it!

I suggested that you would talk about Otto von Bismarck a few days ago as you might remember I had an idea today that I would find quite interesting How about talking about a period of time with multiple episodes and then one episode about a person (possibly of the previous era to go more in depth) in alternating order. This way you don't have to let the people vote on everything (if you use a character of that certain time as it would fit in) and you can use research you've already done for your series of an age (again of the person is of the same time period) For your first world war thing you could have talked about Hindenburg for example and his achievements in the first world war. But you could also touch up a little about the Weimarer Republic and his role there. It was just a thought

If you're looking for input, I favor 6 episodes. =)

Kathyrne

Also, you brought, with semi-animation, voiceover and music, more of an impact on my knowledge about history and emotion about it than most teachers and TV shows had on me as a kid. The Seminal...just...bring me the tissues! MORE if Jidai is worse in impact! And this is the reaction of a "grown ass man"!

Sam Timmins

Have you considered mentioning this series to George Takei? After seeing his "Takei's Take" on Japan (multiple parts about past, present and future), he might be not only a great way to bring eyes to E.H, but also to help with fact checking/etc. as you go!

Sam Timmins

Yes! I was really hoping you'd cover Japan's history. Didn't think it'd be this soon. I'm super hyped.

Captain Japan

An extra long close look at the Warring States? This is going to be amazing. Hope it rockets you to the 10K mark.

The next video will come out this Saturday. It won't be animated - instead, James will reflect on the World War I series, talk about some of the mistakes we made and tell a few more stories he didn't get to include in the script.

Extra History

James has actually been threatening 6 episodes for this one... we'll see!

Extra History

That is a huuuuge compliment! Thank you so much!

Extra History

This is gonna be sweet.

Steven Bryen

Fantastic work :D This is a lot cleaner/less cluttered than the intro in the Seminal Tragedy.

Dire

So far away... T.T

Frederico Lohmann Jr

Matches the Sonic Boom premier date, interestingly. Love the outfits, and looking forward to the episode. Also looking forward to Lies, as it is a chance to listen to James talk about History.

Mask

when's the next video coming out?

Christian Wen

Ah wonderful I always wanted to learn about Asian history a little We don't really do it in school and this will be a nice introduction Are they going to be 4 episodes as usual?

Aeto

I CAN'T WAIT ! Sorry, but I can't be bothered to be excited by the new avenger, the new star wars, dragon age, the new blah blah blah… And I thought I was beginning to be just a blazé dude that could never be excited again by the coming of a piece of media. But here: there is childlike candor in my eyes when I read that, there is excitement, physical and juvenile excitement for a series about history… Do you realise guys that you can make a person, sitting in an office chair, on the other side of the globe shiver in excitement for HISTORY OF ALL THINGS?! I think that's a testament to how good of a job you're doing. Thank you so much.
