Yeah the animator you’re talking about is Naoki Tate. He’s been a key animator since Z & has a big reputation for breaking the character models for the sake of animation. He’s very talented, but yeah sometimes his drawings are jarring, sometimes not (like the Goku vs 17 fight a while back, or a bunch of fights to come this arc). Sometimes I like how raw his drawings look, sometimes I don’t. He’s, in a sense, the exact opposite of Takahashi, who makes sure every frame looks like it came straight from a Z movie, but this concern for prettiness results in his sequences not being very dynamic.
