2025-02-06 16:11:29 +0000 UTCI just realized something. Sailor Neptune, a character from Sailor Moon, has shoulder length teal hair just like Itsuki, and Sailor Neptune is a lesbian. The creator of Sailor Moon is married to the creator of this show. Naoko and Togashi are definitely big LGBT allies because a lot of the characters in their works are gay or transgender. I kind of appreciated how back in the early to mid 90s they were so open about the LGBT representation if their stories. They were definitely ahead of their time in terms of social norms.

Without spoilers of course shows how it later impacts his future work in terms of both themes and character developments. Just even showing this episode Itsuki and Sensui's relationship was really Sensui's first step towards understanding that the demons he was told to kill may not all be as evil as he grew up believing. His black and white beliefs were turning grey even before he slaughtered the humans committing those cruel acts. As we saw previously it was him and Itsuki raiding Sakyo's compound showing not only did he spare Itsuki but decided to work with him as a partner showing his trust in a demon.

2025-02-06 00:42:02 +0000 UTCYou learn a lot about Sensui and Itsuki’s relationship in this episode. Although, it’s never explained if Sensui feels the same way about Itsuki. I mean they’re obviously close friends, but I never got the impression of Sensui reciprocated Itsuki’s romantic feelings. And yes, humans and demons can fall in love with each other, but I guess Kuwabara and Yakina’s relationship already showed that.
