2024-06-21 00:52:54 +0000 UTCIMO head canon on my part but I think this movie could take place in an alternate universe where Vegeta wasn’t a complete arrogant prick and actually killed Semi-perfect Cell. Maybe Trunks reminded him that he still had Goku to test out his powers on. Therefore he still had a challenge ahead of him.
