Zoro just rolling up to a dojo and demanding a fight without ever having held swords before is so good, what an idiot LOL and Luffy would do the same thing. Kuina internalizing misogyny from her own father is so messed up... I love how baby Zoro thinks about it, because it's so simple to him: that all that matters is training, not gender. And yet Zoro will still never be able to beat her now... I really love Zoro's backstory episode--we expect something 'grander' for a main character's backstory, something even more tragic to give Zoro something to get mad at or find strength in, but realistically that's not what always happens. Death is inevitable and oftentimes random and sudden, it's not an enemy that Zoro can fight, and so it shapes a lot of how he looks at the world--that he might as well live as if every day is his last, because it might be. He understands that death can be around any corner. And the way tiny Zoro finally breaks down and cries, wanting to be good enough specifically so his name can reach her in heaven <3 ouch WHOOO, Sanji!! His introduction is always so epic lol but he's also such a diva. Zeff, you do NOT want Luffy doing chores here. By 'candidly' here Zeff means Luffy is very straightforward, he just honestly says whatever he thinks without any reservation or, especially in this case, reflection LOL like the way that Luffy is willing to admit his mistake but basically demands Zeff make it only 1-3 weeks instead of a year. But I think that adding 'candid' is also just part of Zeff's speech quirk, similar to how Buggy always says 'flashily'.
