I've always loved The Coronation episode. At first, I thought the title was just about Glimmer because she’s the one taking Angella’s place as queen. But over time, I realized that, in a way, the one who truly gets "crowned" in this episode is Catra.
Glimmer takes the throne because she has no other choice. She’s stepping into a role she never asked for, dealing with the loss of her mother and the pressure of doing the right thing. Meanwhile, Catra earns her own "coronation" in the Horde, but in a much lonelier and more self-destructive way. There’s no celebration, no applause—just a rise to power built on challenges and betrayals.
What makes this parallel so powerful is that both are stepping into leadership roles, but from completely opposite places. Glimmer, despite her doubts, still has her friends supporting her. Catra, on the other hand, keeps sinking deeper into her obsession with proving she doesn’t need anyone.
In the end, they both end up with a crown on their head—but only one of them has a kingdom to stand behind her.
