Thanks to your donations, I have been able to afford Photoshop CC through a subscription every month. I recently found out that Octane, the render engine I have dreamed of having, also had a subscription available. I decided to give it a shot, and I am quite happy with the results.
When I built my computer, I built it with Octane in mind. Octane uses the graphics card to render images quickly, however to do so, it needs to load all of the texture maps onto the card's VRAM. So I bought a water cooled GTX 1080 with 8 GB of VRAM, figuring that would be a good start. Then all I had to do was wait to get enough to buy Octane. Well at nearly $600, I knew it would be a while.
I don't know when they started subscriptions, but it is only $20 per month. Normally even that would have been out of my range, but thanks to you guys, its quite affordable.
What's so special about Octane? First, its fast. The render above took less than an hour. The speed allows me to have a higher quality picture in less time. Second, its interactive. I could change something in the scene and see the change almost immediately. The render window stays open and automatically updates as I make adjustments. And third, it surprisingly isn't very intense on my system. My CPU doesn't run at all, and my graphics card only gets to around 40 degrees C while it renders (in comparison to 60 degrees when playing games, and 50 degrees when using Iray).
I'll be posting a few renders that I have re-done in Octane. I'm already thinking about commissions with it as well, so if you wanted a commission from me, send me a note somewhere and we'll work something out. Also I have been making tests with Harvock, and they were pretty successful, so expect the next vore pack to feature some Harvock CV rendered in Octane.
Thanks again for the support, you are helping me expand :)
