I cant tell if this is a sweet scene or a sinister one. The dragon is resting while hugging this lizard man, though at the same time his hunting partner is digesting beneath him. For either case, the lizard does not seem happy...

3D Tip: lighting.

I tend to use a minimum of three lights currently. One is always an ambient light, and one is always a sun. The third is either a specular light or a back light to help the sunlight and get rid of harsh shadows. My ambient light is never at 100% power either; its usually 75% or lower, while my sunlight is typically 100%-130%. More lights will give nicer looking renders, especially if put in the right locations. If you need lights to help get some back light, look at the area light props. They will create very good lighting effects at the cost of longer render times. Its worth it.

For this scene, the background is so complex that I knew it would take a long time to render no matter what lights I used. I tried to decrease the render time as much as possible by using my three light setup and no area lights. The end result was somewhat bland, so I used Photoshop to bring out the colors and contrast.

Remember: use some sort of photo editing software after each render. No 3D light setup is perfect, and it doesn't have to be. Editing the image later to bring out the colors can make a mediocre render look great.
