Kings of Nowhere V2 page 105 Timelapse

This is a continuation of yesterday's post. I will be reiterating my process, especially the process on perspective. Unfortunately, procreate time-lapses don't show the grids.

First, Draw a rough thumbnail of the image. Use reference images to help you along the way. For example, I used images off Google maps Toronto, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. I did my best to place in a horizon line for each panel. Using the reference, I filled up space with things such as traffic lights, air conditioner units, and even gas pipes.

Second, Ink. Use a model sheet for your characters to keep them on model. Using the perspective tool on procreate, I fixed my perspective. You can use a ruler if working on paper.

Most of the time, you will use two vanishing points. Imagine each building as a cube. The higher the horizon line, the more you will see of the top of the cube. The lover the horizon, the closer you are to the bottom of the cube.

Lastly, develop the image by using nice clean lines. In procreate, draw a line, hold it, and it will straighten. Mixing organic and inorganic lines helps create a diverse environment.

The key to getting the hang of cityscape drawings is a ton of repetition. I used to find it daunting, but after several attempts and seeing an improvement, it becomes much more enjoyable.

This is great! I used to love drawing things in perspective when I learned about it in art class. Then I fell into the trap of drawing figures to the detriment of other skills. This content is helping me shake off that rust.

Your work is inspiring and motivating. its been great to see how you have developed. For someone who is 30 and just started to learn to draw properly. How does one build work on a skill like writing and building a story. Especially if you think of trying to develop characters within a short amount of time compared to the years of ideas you may have had. Its a very daunting and intimidating prospect lol but here's hoping I can do simmilar things like this. Lastly do you have and advice on layout templates for procreate. its awesome to see how youve used procreate all the way. Thanks again for your time.

This whole page was made using the soft ink brush exclusively.

Nice man. For the thick shading under the ZEBAZ signage, is that still the Ink Bleed Soft brush?
