What would you rather watch?
Added 2023-12-03 07:30:35 +0000 UTCIf we regularly produced (i.e. edited, pre-recorded) new shows/videos on ComicPop Returns, would you rather have lists (e.g. Best comics of all time) or conversational shows (e.g. Let's Talk About, Comic Line, etc)?

Conversational

2023-12-06 13:35:44 +0000 UTCI'd love both, but I think a major appeal of comic pop is the conversational aspect, and so I'd definitely want that prioritized.

2023-12-03 18:39:07 +0000 UTCConversational has always been your strongest suit. Lists are fun, but they are highly subjective.

2023-12-03 18:09:12 +0000 UTCI love Comic Line. Deep dives into a specific Comic/Nerd culture topics. The “Should Batman Kill?” episode is awesome.

2023-12-03 08:27:02 +0000 UTCIt seems fairly unanimous. Your strongest shows are conversation and personality based. It's the reason why Back Issues works so well. The interplay between you and whoever else is on the couch is what separates you from everyone else. I could watch a million videos on what happens in Doomsday Clock, Zero Hour, etc. but I get so much more out of hearing Ben's stupid jokes, Ethan questioning why anything works in comics, and Tiffany's enormous knowledge of the arts. It doesn't just apply to comics. You have a way of having a good time with any guest. The on the spot riffing is very valuable.

2023-12-03 08:00:37 +0000 UTCThe best conversation/interview episodes are some of the best content on the channel, but the quality has a much bigger swing, and it's very reliant on the guest. Josh or Tom could make a conversation about phonebooks fun, but that's not always true for all guests. In my (limited) experience creating episodes, list shows are much more work to do right (prep ahead, curating images, editing after the fact), but had *much* better retention. People generally would make it through the episode to see how much their opinion matches with the hosts and the numbered segments provide a good pacing. audience retention rarely dropped before the end. I have nothing to back this up, but in my mind, giving the listener more frequent, obvious opportunities to mentally agree with one of the hosts (e.g. listicle items) gives them more chances to become personally invested in the media they're consuming. TL;DR I see it as Lists shows Vs Interviews are the youtuber equivalent of Hollywood's "One for them, One for us".

2023-12-03 07:38:08 +0000 UTCI would personally say conversational shows, because sometimes those could be about lists…. the long form discussions with many tangents are always entertaining.
