Kingdom - Episode 4 Part 2

I really loved this episode, as someone who is not familiar with the music of most of these groups i felt that each brought their personal flair to it. I have heard all three of the original songs and i am very familiar with SF9 so seeing them do their thing was awesome. One of the things that impressed me most is their different interpretations of the theme "Reborn" . I was impressed by the diversity of the performances, they are brought their own styles to a known song and made it something different, so a rebirth. As someone who knew nothing about the TBZ seeing them do O Sole Mio(my favourite SF9 song) in their way let me know they are a group who is phenomenal in performances and i thoroughly enjoyed their take on it. I also enjoyed SF9's take on Stealer(other than the chorus, don't know the song). IKON's take on Inception blew me away, that was a true rebirth of a new song with that performance. I totally disagree with you Anitra, by changing up the song and making it their own they fulfilled what was asked of them for this round. I also think that it would have been very odd for rappers of any group to use the original raps as those are very personal to each rapper. I am also not sure on how they will judge this as each group has their own style and concept period. If it was something clearly defined like, did they hit the theme, were the dance moves on point, was the singing on point, stuff like that but it is almost impossible to say someone's artistic vision is better than someone else's. I would not have watched this show on my own because i hate how the stations play on the drama they create between fandoms but i am enjoying watching it will you. All the groups are extremely talented and work so hard and i love their interactions and mutual appreciation.

Yay! I love rewatching the episodes with you! The interaction between ikon and ateez was my absolute favorite part. I hope we get to see more of it going forward. Also, I cannot WAIT till you see the next episode, it's SO GOOD. XD Just as a side note: I'm pretty sure that fourth category of rankings was to show the results of the Whosfan app global voting. I agree with you on scoring confusion though. I am so confused as to how all of these categories are going to be combined to show the final score, and how the 20,000 extra points will be distributed. Does ATEEZ get the first 10,000 because they won professional and self evaluations, and does SKZ get the other half because they won the views and fan votes? Or does the 1st place winner of the combined scores get all 20,000? The scoring rules should really be much clearer than they are. Thanks for an awesome reaction!! <3

For me personally in this episode I really liked that SF9 really improved and had an amazing performance but I prefer more choreography so I personally thought there was more focus on acting and stunts than the choreo aspect. In terms of favorite performance I think my number 1 of the 3 they showed would be The Boyz because they're always so in sync and their choreography was flawless but if I was going by the theme which was Re-Born I think iKON did the best because they changed the song to make it their own so it didn't just seem like a cover. I see what you mean Anitra about iKON changing up a lot of the song but I think that was the whole point like keep parts of the original but make it sound like it's something that you produced so idk if you noticed but with The Boyz and SF9 they also just wrote their own rap verses it wasn't the original. I personally liked that they changed it that much because like I said, the other ones were so similar to the original that it just sounded like a cover. ** Also side note but the Red Wedding actually is a reference to a scene from Game of Thrones

I haven’t seen the other 3 performances yet but I feel like Ikon actually did what the concept was re born as in remixing the song into there own not just cover it

There was no typo on the screen for the ranking, if I remember it right, iKon and BtoB has the same expert score, hence why both of them are in 5th place for that section.

here is my thing with the boys... I feel they are really struggling with outshining themselves from rtk. Their performances were so legendary but I feel they are giving us ( for me personally at least) performances with very similar vibes that we got from kingdom, minus the no air performance so far . Yes their concept may be different but in overall terms of the performances they have just been too similar to their rtk performances We have already seen these intense performances with crazy stunts and them having the slowed down elegant contemporary type dancing throughout like how they did the first ep for the introduction and this performance, so I do find my self loosing focus in their performances. They would really have to do some thing completely different for me i feel like ikon actually did what the whole theme was..reborn/rebirth. they legit mad ateez song into their own, there was no feel of ateez what so ever I actually liked that. you would think that inception is their own song, they understood the assignment and delivered. And yes Bobby's verse was added, it was very common at least in rtk to add new verses in and not do the originals. The set was nice and the slow-motion part was everything. You had the classic king Bobby ad-libs and him screaming in the back and just being his care free self all ways makes me smile watching him perform. But all I could think about was how happy Mingi had to have been for ikon to cover their song, we atiny know how much he loves bobby 🥲💕😀

I agree. All of them changed the songs in some way. From what I noticed too with the comments I've been reading on reddit, I think the more you are familiar with or like the original songs the more you want them to stay true to the original. I didn't know ateez's version at first and I loved ikon's performance. I looked up ateez's original version and now I love both versions.

to answer the questions you had about ikon's performance, from what i've seen on twitter personally, a lot of the fandoms felt like ikon did the "re-born" concept the best so far because they quite literally "re-birthed" a whole new style of Inception(yes, the added parts were completely new). About Bobby's rap, so far all the rappers for sf9 and the boyz have created new raps for their "re-born" performances as well, none of the original raps are used so far :)

I don't know why, but a small part of TBZ performance were cut on Viki (Juyeons tango partner dance at the very start). It's possible to see it on Youtube though. Agian, "The red wedding" is indeed a Game of Thrones reference, just like "Winter is coming" that they used for the intro stage and "A song of ice and fire" used for the No air performance. Also i feel like in this performance the cuts made it seem less cohesive, so i agree that it may seem a little confusing. However the full version of yt shows it much better as well as it includes that first tango scene. The leader of TBZ is Sangyeon and the one that hit the highnote is New (one of their main vocalists). Sadly neither of them gets a lot of screentime, Mnet tends to only focus on certain members in the editing, which you may have noticed. Especially Juyeon, Hyunjae, Sunwoo and Q.

I completely agree with your comments. SF9 really stepped up and I miss Rowoon too. So they are 1st as of the moment for me too. I love the Boyz new concept and Bobby's camera effect. I'm so excited for the next episode, Im sure Stray Kids, Btob and Ateez will give it their all. For the rankings, Im not sure if they are gonna even announce the overall ranking based on the 4 evaluation? But I'm not sure🤷‍♀️
