2020-09-17 05:00:45 +0000 UTCI just wanted to stop by the comments to leave a few fun tidbits about the episode: FIRST off, I'm an artist and I've painted on canvas a few times so my best guess is that the reason yoongi painted a portion of the canvas white was to use the wet white paint as a transition to more seemlessly blend the other colors. SECOND, with what you were wondering about Namjoons reading habits (you said you wondered if he read books in English more often than Korean) and the answer is actually both! The book he was reading in the show is a Korean fiction novel called "Almond" by Son Won-Pyung. The book is written in Korean Hangul (the Korean alphabet.) However, he has also read many English novels such as Catcher in the Rye and 1984 which are both American classics. Moreover (and much to my delight) it turns out that him and I have one of the same favorite authors, Haruki Murakami. He's a Japanese author but many of his publications have been translated and printed in English. I'm not sure if namjoon reads the original Japanese books or the English translations but either way he most likely read them in a language other than Korean. (A few of the titles that are my personal favorites are Norwegian Wood, 1Q84, and Kofka on the Shore. I highly recommend giving them a read because Murakami is a literary genius. I can never find anyone else who reads him so I was literally so ecstatic that my Bias also reads him.)

I know 'In the soop' tries to portrait them as natural as possible, but Joonie's statement shows that some or rather a lot of things idols do, is definitely for the 'show'/ the cameras. Something some fans tend to forget now and then. It never can be 100% real. (Video) surveillance changes behaviour. And there is still the 'Hawthorne effect'. But nevertheless I really enjoy this show. Thanks for your hard work.

2020-09-05 05:56:29 +0000 UTCYoongi wasn't really painting a white canvas white. In order for paint to blend properly on the canvas it can't be dry so you use a thin layer of white to "wet" the canvas so to speak.

They're usually filled with sauces, like soy sauce, gochujang (fermented chili paste), doenjang (fermented bean paste), and even kimchi, though I've read that some people bury their kimchi onggi so that only the lid shows above ground. The porousness of the pottery is supposed to aid in fermentation. Also, budaejjigae is called Army Base Stew, which is like a catch-all stew for whatever you have in the fridge (or in the mess tent kitchen). Maangchi did a whole show on it once, and I think it has American influences from the war, so the "sausages" are usually hot dogs, and there will be Spam and then cabbage and mushrooms and ramen, etc. ...and this has been a lesson in how Heather watches too much Korean television. (cooking shows are my FAVORITE)
