I would argue that Jason wasn’t being a very good friend when he tried to convince Eleanor that they should stay in the medium place with Mindy and let Tahani and Chidi rot in the “bad place”, but I get you😭 Jason is sweet USUALLY

2025-09-06 06:12:03 +0000 UTCOmg, I just realized as I'm rewatching this episode, but Jason said that he never had an actual education before and that most of his classes (on a tugboat at a junkyard), he would just sell dirty magazines door-to-door. LISTEN TO ME WHEN I SAY JUSTICE FOR JASON, maybe I'm biased because i've seen all 4 seasons back in 2020, but JASON IS MISUNDERSTOOD with a very challenging childhood and grew up in one of the poorer cities of Florida, and i've mentioned before that around seasons 3 and 4, Jason became my favorite character. I remember previously you have said "where was that love and appreciation the first time, Jason has never given Tahani that love and appreciation" but remember, the first season, they thought they were in the good place and Jason felt the need to hide himself from Michael and everyone else, and Jason was never a friend to anyone there because he was constantly being tortured by everyone around him when they kept telling him that he should not be himself, so he chose himself instead and hid away from everyone. But now that everyone knows they're in the bad place, thus Tahani knows that Jason is Jason and not Jianyu, Jason is more closer to the friend group because everyone knows he is Jason and not Jianyu, thus they aren't torturing him to be Jianyu, thus Jason gets to be closer to the friend group and authentically show Tahani love and appreciation without her freaking out about the fact that Jason isn't Jianyu. Also, in another episode, Eleanor said "Chidi, think about this, I'm your hottest friend- no Tahani, I'm your nicest friend- no Jason, I'M YOUR FRIEND" so even OFF SCREEN, Jason is genuinely a good friend. You'll see in later episodes/seasons as to what makes Jason the most loyal friend, and i even have a theory that Jason was ALWAYS a good person from the very first episode to the last episode, he just had a very troubling childhood growing up as he didn't have an education and grew up in a poor/lower class side of town, which is why he had to make the best of himself, even if that means he had to sell drugs or rob restaurants, BUT, if you look into his friendships throughout the whole series, he always does everything in his power to make sure his friends have a sense of trust and community and is safe with him, making him the most loyal out of the whole friend group. I know he HATED Jason throughout the first season, but trust me when I say that around seasons 3 and 4, Jason is THE BEST character out of the whole show. HE IS MISUNDERSTOOD, JUSTICE FOR JASON
