Finally, the day of the magic show arrived.

The sky was clear, perfect weather for flying a hot air balloon.

Being a public outdoor recording, a large crowd had already gathered.

The host stood next to Mai and began the interview.

"Mai-san, your escape from the water tank the other day was amazing."

"Thank you."

"We were all on the edge of our seats wondering what would happen."

"Yes, being restrained so tightly, even I took some time."

"And to unlock the lock with just a single wire, that's incredible, isn't it?"

"Unlocking locks isn't that difficult."

"Well, that's something only a magician like you can say."

Mai smiled and said things like "Thank you," but in her heart, she was thinking something else.

(Really, everyone is so simple, it's a great help. This is a magic show with tricks and gimmicks...)

She said she unlocked the lock with a single wire, but in reality, she couldn't unlock locks at all.

The lock originally had a mechanism where pressing a button on the side would automatically release the lock.

So, she could have escaped immediately, but that wouldn't have made the audience nervous...

Therefore, to enhance the entertainment value, she deliberately took her time and escaped at the last possible moment.

Moreover, the lid on top of the tank wasn't fixed to the tank, so she could easily lift it off, frame and all, with both hands.

So, the door with the lock was just for show.

Everything she did inside the tank was acting.

Of course, Mai had no intention of telling the host any of this.

It would only make his live commentary even more convincing.

いよいよマジック当日の日になった。

空は快晴で熱気球を飛ばすには最高の天気である。

屋外での公開録画という事もあり既に多くの観客たちが集まっていた。

司会者が舞の横に立ちインタビューを始めた。

「舞さん、この前の水槽からの脱出は見事でしたね。」

「ありがとうござます」

「それにしても、最後はどうなるかとハラハラしましたよ。」

「そうですね。あれだけ厳重に拘束されると流石の私も時間が掛かってしまって。」

「しかも針金１本だけで鍵を開けてしまうなんて凄いですね？」

「鍵の解除なんてそんなに難しくはありませんわ。」

「いや、それはマジシャンである舞さんだから言える言葉でしょ。」

舞は笑顔を浮かべながら「ありがとうございます」などと言っていたが心の中では別の事を思っていた。

（本当、皆単純で助かるわ。これは種も仕掛けも有るマジックショーなのよ・・・）

彼女は針金１本で鍵の解除をしていると言ったが、実は彼女自身鍵の解除などは出来ないのだ。

元々あの鍵には仕掛けが有り、鍵の側面に付いているボタンを押すと自動的にロックが解除されるようになっているのだ。

だから、本当は直ぐにでも脱出は出来るのだが、それでは見ている観客たちがハラハラしない・・・・。

なのでエンターテイメント性を上げるためにわざと時間を掛けてから時間ギリギリに脱出するようにしていただけなのだ。

しかも頭上の蓋は水槽に固定されていないので両手で持ち上げれば枠ごと簡単に持ち上げられるようになっている。

なので鍵の付いている扉も単なる飾りでしか無い。

彼女が水槽の中でおこなった行為は全て演技なのだ。

そんな事、舞は勿論この男に教えるつもりは無い。

その方が彼の実況中継がさらに真に迫った物になるからだ。
