Open Your Heart/ 3

Chapter 3 — Avoidance and Longing

A week had passed since that awkward morning. I tried not to think about Hana, but her image kept resurfacing in my thoughts. I buried myself in work, hung out with friends, but deep down I knew I couldn't forget that night and our subsequent conversations.

One evening, returning home from work, I accidentally ran into Hana in the subway. She was standing on the platform, looking at her phone and didn't notice me. My heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, I was lost, not knowing how to act.

"Hi," I said, approaching her.

She looked up and smiled, her face lighting up with joy.

"Hi, Yumi! How are you?" her voice was warm and friendly.

"Good, just tired after work," I replied, feeling a warm feeling inside me again.

We stood and talked while waiting for the train. At some point, I realized that I enjoyed being around her, and all my doubts began to dissipate.

"You haven't called," Hana said as we got on the train and sat next to each other. "I thought you were avoiding me."

"No, just a lot of work," I justified, though deep down I knew it wasn't entirely true.

She looked at me intently, and I felt that she saw right through me. Our eyes met, and I realized I could no longer hide my feelings.

"Hana," I began, gathering my courage, "I need to tell you something."

"Yes, Yumi?" her voice was quiet, almost a whisper.

"I can't stop thinking about you. That night... It changed me. I realized that I feel something more for you than just attraction."

She looked at me, her eyes sparkling in the light of the train.

"I do too," she finally said, and her words brought a wave of relief and joy.

We both knew that these words changed everything. Ahead of us was a new challenge—to admit our feelings to each other and to ourselves.

Our conversation paused, and we traveled in silence, each lost in our thoughts. When we arrived at our stop, Hana suggested we continue the conversation at her place. I agreed, feeling it was the right decision.

We entered her apartment, and the atmosphere was completely different from that night. Now everything felt more personal, more meaningful. Hana offered me a glass of wine, and I accepted, hoping it would help me relax.

"Tell me about your feelings," she said, sitting next to me on the couch.

I sighed, trying to find the right words.

"I've never felt anything like this before," I began. "You make me feel alive. With you, I can be myself, without pretending."

Hana listened intently, her eyes never leaving mine.

"I feel something special when we are together," she admitted. "But I'm scared. I'm scared that if we try, everything will change."

"It will change," I agreed. "But maybe for the better."

We looked at each other, and in that moment, I realized I was ready to take the risk for her. We slowly moved closer until our lips met in a tender kiss. This kiss was full of promises and hopes.

Our hands began to explore each other, and I felt a new passion ignite between us, deeper and more sincere than that night. We gave in to this feeling, allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and genuine.

In this moment, all that mattered was our feelings and the desire to be together.
