WIP NEW VIDEO - Games That Didn’t Kill You Wallet

Hey Skele-Friends!

I know I’m late with the UDUG poll for this month. But I was tired of this feed basically just being UDUG-related stuff without real video updates! So I wanted to have something to actually show you before the next UDUG video. And I do!

First of all, I’ve made some shorts! I realized I’d forgotten to post them here and give you all a first look. Is that something you’d be interested in getting early access to or are you just here for the big videos and the behind-the-scenes stuff? I know shorts and TikToks are basically “disposable” content but they’ve been a fun creative outlet for me. But if you don’t really care that much, let me know!

So now the main project. It’s one that slowly came to me when the PS5 Pro and Switch 2’s surprisingly high prices were announced. And then headlines that $70 or $80 were going to be the new normal for new games. Also $100+ super deluxe editions of games have always irked me. Unfortunately, the ideas for this project came a little too fast and I struggled to get some focus, without help at least!

Last week I uploaded an earlier cut of the intro to the discord, because after writing, shooting, and editing it didn’t feel right. Felt too long and a little too unfocused. The feedback I got on discord pretty much confirmed this. So if you look very closely, my beard changes from the very first two live shots because that’s all I ended up keeping haha

Luckily, in rewriting the intro, the rest of the video came into better focus! I tightened up a few sections and beefed up others. I was planning on posting just the first 12 minutes but the rest of it started to come quickly so even though the back half isn’t edited, I felt like sharing it anyway. This is pretty much the whole thing with only two (maybe three) more sections to finish writing and shoot!

Depression really hit me hard back in August. It’s been a challenging year and one of a lot of restarting in my personal life, if you haven’t read posts of the last year. I think I really needed to sweat it out over this summer. I have a bad habit of becoming a hermit when I need to reach out. And I also love to brainstorm and collaborate, I like being told “No, Derek this ain’t it”. So I really appreciate the feedback because I want to be confident that I’ve done good work!

So enjoy the early cut! I hope I’ll be able to finish this by friday! I do still need to submit the ad spot though. That wont affect the upload here to Patreon which will have all the ad breaks edited out. Though it might affect the work flow, it’ll depend on what I can get finished with today.

AND! I’ll have the UDUG poll for this month right after this post! And then it’s time to start thinking about something spooky for October!!
