I’m not sure where the joke really came from, it was a meme for at least most of the 2010’s, but holy shit NO! It is not EVEN CLOSE to the most ported game of all time. Though would “No, Skyrim is not the most ported game of all time” be a catchier title? Maybe people don’t really say that anymore.
Also let me say, damn!! It’s almost been 2 years of UDUG?? These episodes are always a blast to do but I have to admit that this one was too big for a fun bonus video for Patreon hahaha! Or for as thorough as I’d prefer a subject like this to be.
I could see this being blown up into a proper fully scripted video but it would need so much more research on how exactly these games are ports and what even is a port! For me, capitalism is always the angle, but even then there was a lot to consider. There were a few other games that are mentioned that I just didn’t have time to research.
So I am not confident in the raw number of ports, but I’m fairly confident in the top three. I wont spoil it here though, you’ll need to watch!
And because things were so much, I decided to do this video as a livestream! It was great to have live feedback, it’s always good to have other voices in the room to point out blindspots. So thanks so much to the people that hung out as I presented my findings! Also the music in the background is some more unreleased tracks from my old band, just stuff that I know wouldn’t get flagged.

2025-08-04 20:37:02 +0000 UTCYeah, had to go official ports, it was already a lot to go through and consider. Needed stipulations to narrow things down. If only raw sales numbers for games were more common the same way album sales or boxoffice numbers.

Fan releases running Doom on a toaster because it's open source? Don't count. Maybe a footnote, or honorable mention (or a whole other video unto itself). I mean talking it out is definitely helpful, though I wonder if also you could also look at published sales figures, too? That could be an interesting rabbit hole in itself, too. But it would be a 'dead ringer' for release dates and like flier or magazine sales for pricing.
