SSFF Faceball 16-Player Doc 50 Min Preview
Added 2024-11-23 23:50:08 +0000 UTC
Hey Skele-friends!
Here’s a preview of the documentary I’ve been working on for the last 2-ish years. It’s currently about 70% finished but it’s 50 minutes in total.
This cut is mostly done but there are a few little things I need put in. Plus a few errors I caught that I need to fix but if you see any problems let me know! No matter how much you try to cover everything, projects like this always have little mistakes that slip by.
And this is just for Patreon supporters! Enjoy!

Considering this is the first video to go up on SSFF in months, it’s a pretty epic one. I’m just glad to see you’re still at it.
Good video.

I'd hope to one day play Midi-Maze at a convention set up!

Taking this thing to a few conventions, I've seen something heartwarming - kids love Faceball! I've seen so many little kids walk up to the booth and just lose it! I think it's because it's such a simple game, you can understand so quickly how to interact with it. Always makes me smile to see young people love old media.

Yeah and there's still more to it! It was a lot of story to tell and a lot of work to tell it right. Hope you like the finished thing!

I'll probably be back, I'm not sure if it'll be Faceball related or not but it's a nice trip down to Portland!

I really tried to make this entertaining too since it was going to be so long, glad you liked it! I'm looking forward to much smaller projects after this one haha but there's a few other behemoth projects that are waiting to be picked back up.

Great work, Derek! This may be my favorite video you've ever done (and it's not even done yet!).
I know you've had a rough few years due to your health, but I really hope you continue working on more long form gaming documentaries, because they aren't just fantastic content, they teach us about forgotten corners of gaming history.
We appreciate you guys and please, keep kicking ass! 👍

What's the music at 36:38? I've heard it used elsewhere and I just can't place what game its from.

I remember this game coming out for PC. It was at a convention, and one of the first network playable 3D games. It was so surprising to see it show up on the GB.
