State of the Skeleton 8/8-8/12: Technology can smell fear

Hello Skele-friends!

Grace here. Hope you guys enjoyed the Podcast last week with Kelsey! Let’s get into it.

Monday

I spent the majority of the day organizing and double checking all the gameplay footage that Derek gathered last week and writing emails. Derek got a start on the VO. The end of Crash Nitro Kart production is in sight!

Tuesday

Today Derek spent more time on VO, getting about 2/3 of the way done with the script. The script is a HONKER. Longer videos just have so many extra pieces, and I find myself pining for the days where videos were just 8-10 minutes long. I think this will turn out well though! We have a couple of shorter videos planned after this one. I’m not ready to reveal details since its early stages, but I am securing an interview for a future video today. Lots of groundwork laid!

Wednesday

Today I dug deep into Ouya production! I spent a large part of my day testing and cataloging the games on this thing. THAT’S RIGHT, IT’S SPREADSHEET TIME!! While the OUYA had over 1200+ games released over its multi year lifespan, our OUYA only has about 250. My plan is to figure out how many of our games were exclusive to the OUYA (so far: not many lol). Eventually I want to reach out to some of the developers and ask some questions. But in the meantime, I GAME.

Thursday

Surprise! Our N-Gage had been showing us the dreaded white screen of Death all year, and we even took it in to get it repaired but noooooooooo, it was broken! Until now it’s not? At this point I’m convinced that all technology stays broken until you whisper sweet nothings like “Ok, I’m going to film you being broken now” into its ear. Luckily I put off setting up N-Gage emulation until today!

Of course, who knows how long technology will decide to un-break itself? While we had planned to do the live shoot today, instead Derek went ahead and captured Crash Nitro Kart N-Gage footage and wrapped up the VO.

Friday

It’s finally, finally live shot day! With this piece finished, we’ll be able to send the entire video over to SoberDwarf for editing. I’m thrilled! Thank you guys for your patience while we worked through Crash Bandikart, I think it’s going to be a super fun video. Next week’s podcast is at 4pm PT on Monday! Don’t miss it!

Thanks for the support,

Grace

Grace, I envy your ability to use Audition, I’m learning it right now. ALSO OUYA HELL YEAH! Weird and obscure console failures like that are just my favourite freakin’ thing.
