State of the Skeleton 6/4-6/8: Konamaburger + Update Video

Grace here. This week was a little weird because we worked through the weekend to prep for leaving Thursday to visit family in Alaska. I also uploaded an update video to youtube to explain where we’ve been for the past couple months, which I added to this post. Things are a little hectic, but we’ll be back on June 20th with another podcast and State of the Skeleton will be back on June 24th!

Saturday 6/4

Today was round one of script writing for the Konami Brawlers video! My favorite part was seeing what a personal connection Derek has to the four games in question, but especially to TMNT. Apparently Donatello is the best turtle and this is not up for debate? This is another one of those scripts where I don’t have a ton of personal experience to contribute because of my YOUTH and childhood allegiance to Skydancers/My Little Ponies/Sailor Moon over Turtles. I don’t think I’d even seen the cartoon? At least now I’ve watched the entire Oprah episode dedicated to the Coming Out of Their Shells tour.

Sunday 6/5

Not a lot to say about today. More script! This time Turtles in Time + Xmen Arcade flavored. While I was point on the Doom RPG script, Derek took the lead on researching and playing the games for this vid. So the script writing process involves me typing while we both go over Derek’s outline. I was hoping to have the script finished by the end of today, but it looks like our new target is Tuesday.

Monday 6/6

Today we recorded the 69th episode of Stop Skeletons from Podcasting! Nice! We spent a majority of the day writing the end of the Konamibunga script and then finalizing the Doom RPG video. Derek recorded a couple of extra lines! I got the patreon credits in order! There’s always a ton of little stuff to attend to once a video is almost done. I’m so excited to finally post it!

Tuesday 6/7

Now that we have a script written for Konami Brawlers, it’s time to finalize it! Which usually comes down to Derek reading the script out loud to practice for recording to VO while we pitch jokes and do minor rewrites together. Usually, but instead Derek did that on his own while I started edit prep for the Konami video (making sure all the materials are gathered and organized). And then I got the Doom RPG video posted on Patreon! YES! Unfortunately there was an audio error I had to get fixed with Brandon, but all good now. Finally we capped off the day by filming a mini update video for YouTube to explain what the heck we’ve been up to. It was a pretty busy day! I was stressed enough about getting it all done that I fell asleep with my planner on my bed next to me on Monday night lol.

Wednesday 6/8

Today was a bit of a gauntlet! Derek hustled on recording VO, and got through about 11 minutes, which (probably) represents about 30-40% of the final runtime for Konamabunga. I edited the update video, made a thumbnail for it, spruced up the Doom RPG thumbnail, rewatched Doom RPG, sent emails, did a bit more edit prepping, and uploaded what we have of the video for Soberdwarf to get started on.

Thursday 6/9

Vlog is going up on YouTube today! Apologies for not getting it on Patreon early for y’all, but I didn’t end up finalizing it until late last night. Also, Doom RPG is going live on YouTube tomorrow on Friday. YAY FINALLY. Well, we are headed off to the airport and towards Derek’s favorite burger (the world-famous Tommy’s Burger Stop)! No State of the Skeleton next week, but we will be back podcasting on June 20th!
