SSFP Episode #38 | Castlevania Rondo of Blood / Symphony of the Night GameClub

Who's ready to talk some Castlevania? Uncle Derek certainly is! The SSFF GameClub this month is all about the one-two punching of Rondo and Symphony, widely considered two of the greatest Castlevania games ever. Not only that, two wildly different Castlevania games! And Derek couldn't help but toss out the hot takes like fresh hearts from a hot candle.

Don't forget resident evil Deadly Silence or guilty gear Dust Strikers. I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of right now

You were mentioning that Harmony was the first DS game. There’s actually an Aria/Harmony bundle on GBA which is an achievement in itself. Dawn of Sorrow is the first DS title. See what they did there??? D of S on the DS πŸ˜‰

Also, I apologize for my tone in that question, but Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia ended up becoming my favorite games in the series, it shocked me that it got barely mentioned. Like, I put tons of hours into those games.

...All right, fair enough.

So happy to hear of your mom's good health!

I thought that Ecclesia was really difficult and when I revisited it, I don't remember being too wow'ed. Portrait of Ruin was the only one I didn't buy new in its time, but I've played it since and it also didn't wow me much.

1:00:30 ...You never played Portrait of Ruin or Order of Ecclesia, have you...?

49:54 Dracula's line of "Ha! Mankind! A cesspit of hatred and lies! Fight for them...and die for their sins!" in the re-write of Symphony of the Night is probably one of my favorite lines in the entire series. And even in the english version of the original Rondo of Blood, Dracula has a great line in that Richter Ending scene: "And yet, here I am. Do you not have any desires? It is by your desires that you humans prosper, and it's your faith which has ruled you."

It's still irks me to this day that Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles is not at all playable on the PS Vita TV. Like, how Sony and Konami!? HOW!?!?
