Video Topic Vote!
Added 2019-05-29 17:38:07 +0000 UTCHi guys! We have some bigger research projects in the works, but we had a few ideas for videos to put out in the meantime. So I thought it’d be awesome if the patreon could vote on what they’d like to see next since I think that worked out really well for the Random N64 video! If anything seems confusing please comment and I’ll explain it better. OR! If none of these ideas sound good, let me know that too.

2019-05-30 01:52:13 +0000 UTCThe Konami Rebirth idea stands out the most to me, showcasing some not-so-well-known games that should've been remembered (which was always one of SSFF's strongest suits).
2019-05-29 22:32:19 +0000 UTCI can compare Mario to Banjo... *side-eye*

2019-05-29 20:55:53 +0000 UTCI'm really interested in the Mario 64/Banjo-Kazooie idea! The two games have a lot of differences that I'd love to see and hear outlined.

2019-05-29 18:55:49 +0000 UTCI'm not 100% sold on any of these, though it's worth mentioning that SSFF can make any topic interesting. That being said, the Konami Collections might be an essay better supported by diving into other collection titles and what the quality standard should be. Not to mention the entirely separate can of worms you can open by comparing differences between original titles and collection ports! Just as an example, the differences between the MMX games and the first MMX collection on the PS2/GC are pretty interesting. The story behind how that game's content had been gutted in anticipation for Maverick Hunter X on the PSP is fascinating and last I checked - unverified by the source! Again - totally down with any of these choices, but I like the idea of covering collections in general and maybe what precedents SSFF expects to find in a modern-day collection.

2019-05-29 17:40:52 +0000 UTCMy thoughts on each of the topics: I haven't played any version of RE2, so I have no feelings either way. I'd still watch the video! Isn't the Konamic Castlevania collection explicitly a volume 1? It does seem odd to leave out Rebirth since, afaik, it's unavailable in any form now, but this could be addressed in a volume 2. Link's Awakening is one of my favorite games, but this video not only seems obvious, but also clickbaity (and spoilery, considering the remake comes out next month!) Mario 64/BK comparison seems pretty neat, and I think there's a lot of untilled ground to turn over regarding the design of early 3D platformers, especially since they were pioneers! I think it's really neat that you post these polls, and I'm sure no matter what the topic is you'll do a great job with it!
