Patreon's Changing its Fees
Added 2017-12-07 19:23:31 +0000 UTCHello Patrons!
Some of you may have heard that Patreon is changing the way it charges fees.

More can be read about it at this FAQ.
Basically, before this change Derek and I had no way of knowing exactly how much we'd make each month. Patreon has decided to address this by shifting credit card fees onto you as a patron.
For example, if you pledged $5 per post before, with added fees you now pay $5.50 per post. For a $1 pledge, you now pay about $1.39 per post.
We do not agree with this new system because we believe it unfairly penalizes patrons who choose to pledge at lower amounts and to patrons of multiple creators.
If you have any questions for Patreon about this change, you can send them a question or a comment here. We hope that Patreon cancels this, but they are unlikely to do so without feedback from us and from you.
We really appreciate your support. If you need to limit your pledge, there is a link on how to edit or set a monthly max on your pledge here.
Thanks,
Grace and Derek

It's helping Patreon for sure. A simple cashgrab. Instead of lumping all your pledges together, like they do anyway when they charge your card, and adding the cents to that, they essentially tax you for each individual pledge, even though they're still lumping your pledges together when they charge you. So it hurts those the most that pledge to many creators. But for people like me who only pledge to one creator, it is a minor inconvenience. But yes, pledges will go down across the board for those who pledges to many; which, yes, will not help creators or Patreon.

2017-12-08 18:04:22 +0000 UTCIf I understand these changes right, the costs for all my Patreon pledges will go up by about 20% because of this. If it stays like this, I'll probably have to cancel a few of them, not sure if this is helping creators or Patreon.
