A sneak peak of our new show, Punching Weight

Hello Supporters!
We promised that 2016 would be a year of growth for SSFF, Grace and I have been hard at work on two new shows that will push us beyond the standard review. I'm currently editing one such show and it's called Punching Weight, a show that celebrates ambitious, weird, and unnecessary games that maybe aren't good but, goddammit, deserve respect!
The first episode highlights three Gameboy Color games, this edit is about 60% finished. A couple sections have been rewritten, so new voiceover needs to be recorded. The edit needs some tightening up in a few spots. The intro and outro are missing too (we commissioned Clockwork Pixel to make a new bumper, so get excited for that!).
I'm really excited about this new show. It's going to open up all kinds of possibilities to talk about weird games I wouldn't normally be able to in a review format. It's a little on the short side for me but I need something less labor-intensive than reviews so we can increase our output. I've got maybe 5 other episodes planned out already but I'm excited to see people's suggestions!
Expect the finished version very soon and another new show next week.

The GBC was the first gaming machine I actively owned, so I played a ton on that thing. For some reason, I played a ton of the license game Tarzan on GBC, which had just a sliver of FMV (you'll see it on the title screen) on the GBC which I thought was insane at the time. Now-a-days, playing it on anything else then original hardware produces an annoying highpitched tone so it's not something I've returned to.
Otherwise, the one other GBC game I'd consider out there tech-wise, I'd say the unreleased port of the original Resident Evil on GBC is pretty crazy. All told, I think the PortsCenter (another Youtube game series, search for 'PortsCenter #006') episode covered it pretty well.

Also for a higher tea patron reward the hvgn volume 3 dvd should be released but of course when you have time to work on it,to be fair I don't think I could manage as much as you do so hats off to you.

Great video !:D Dragon Lairs for Colecovision and Coleco Adam are pretty impressive and spectacular, too!

the music was a *big* problem for me, but that's maybe not a surprise. and i'll confess i only played it for all of 10 minutes. what's interesting is that apparently the gbc version has more dungeons and a different ending. so on paper it's the "definitive" version of crystalis but i was turned off almost immediately.

ooph, that crystalis gbc remake ... i am not a fan, actually. same problem as a lot of gbc games, that screen is just too small. mario bros dx is almost a flawless game. but ghost babel is one hell of a game, i could see myself doing a full review down the line.
