I have an addiction - to plants

If you've seen my stories on Instagram, you might have seen that I've been getting into plants recently. Like a lot. Like getting so many that I've gone off the deep end and think I officially have an addiction π
Last year, we stopped buying plants after various pests, diseases and ultimately house sitters killed most of our plants. The devastation of losing so many was really heartbreaking for us (RIP Pineapple) that we refrained from buying new plants for a long time.
But something about the combination of spring, the sun and a bare studio that needed decoration has given me new hope that maybe we can get new plants again.

I began watching TONS of YouTube videos to learn about plants because if I were going to get more, I wanted to do everything right so they would thrive.
However, turns out when you start learning about plant care, you ultimately also begin discovering new plants. Thus... the start of my aroid collecting.

I'm a little embarrassed with how many plants I've acquired in this last month alone. I think I've gotten about 15 new plants, 5 of which were gifts of rare types that I only ever dreamed of!

I won't lie though - the number of rare plants that are suddenly in my care is a little daunting. I keep worrying I'm underwatering, overwatering, not giving them enough light/humidity/love/etc.
But so far, everyone has actually been pretty okay π So let's hope it stays this way.

Edit: The above plant is actually a Philodendron Ring of Fire! Put the wrong plant type in the image :)
I am super excited though because with this reignited plant passion, I'm starting a new Youtube series to make planters for all my plants! The first one I'm working on is a jaguar planter for my White Princess Philodendron and I can't wait to share with you the final video and planter once it's done.

Does anyone else here collect plants? I'd love to hear about your plant collections and what your newest find is ^^

If you want more, I started a new plant Instagram where I'll be sharing more casually about my plant progress! You can find me @plant.popcorn
And here are some of my favorite YouTube plant channels at the moment that I would highly recommend if you're just getting into plants like me ^^

You are doing something right if they are growing! A plant fair sounds so exciting and fun - I hope find some new plants to enjoy to add to your existing collection + canine variety :D

2023-05-09 11:16:46 +0000 UTCI recently got back into plants as well. I have a monsterra for almost two years, and I love her so much. In the past three months, I added seven more with a new one coming in today. I want to classify them just like you did, but I don't have a Feline Shrimp, only the canine variety hehe. I am going to a plant fair next month and I am super psyched to get new planters for all my babies. I am not an expert by any means but I am getting new growth. I must be doing something right then.
