Hi everyone! I recently was in Dublin and Edinburgh and wanted to share with you one of the highlights from Edinburgh :D
We visited the Royal Botanic Garden to go look at some flowers and exotic plants. Sadly we weren't able to visit the indoor greenhouses since they are currently under renovation. The original structures were built in the 1860s and 1940s, so they are redoing the whole thing and won't be done for another 5-6 years!
We were still able to enjoy the outdoor garden and got to see some beautiful plants in the (rare) shining sun. We had a chance to talk to one of the people who work there and they said there are around 60 gardeners and an additional 60-ish scientists who work there full time. I always wondered how they kept botanical gardens so pristine, and turns out it's just lots and lots of maintenance. Sadly, they also mentioned that each year things are getting hotter/dryer, so they've had to install more sprinklers.
It's always been a tradition of ours to visit the botanical gardens in cities we visit. It is always a huge boost of inspiration for me and we really enjoyed our ~3 hours wandering around the garden.
I took lots of flower reference photos and have added a little zip file here with various plants/flowers I saw while walking around. Feel free to use them for reference if you want to draw them!
